2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

My sister is someone who is trying to help out with the pet issue because they often get forgotten about. What she's fighting atm is not only that humans come first (naturally, no can argue with that) but there is a mentality that many people throw up their hands, leaving animals to (religious) fate as though pets can just start fending for themselves with no water/food/shelter. Please contact IFAW if you think you can help https://www.ifaw.org/uk/news/turkey-syria-earthquake
Amazing; Thanks for posting the link! :)

Usually, by the time a bag goes on sale, I have already moved on to another bag LOL.
Yes, it’s true that if you wait long enough, some of the fire is gone! That’s how I escaped from Coach Revel. I mean, I still quite like it, but will probably not get it. But an irresistible color can turn that around! And the KS heart still has me in its clutches.

Hey everybody! I'm checking in.

While I still have some very raw and unpleasant feelings to process, I am starting to feel a bit better. I am trying to remind myself that I wouldn't want to continue having my knowledge base ( and my general abilities) undermined. I know that I am worth far more than what they think of me. Although this puts me back financially, I think this is the best outcome for my overall health. I think the stress of this job, a PART TIME JOB no less, wasn't worth the pay-cheque. Ironically, the new owner begged me to work there. There were moments where the new owner would go back into my work to re-do it to their standards. No matter what, I couldn't work in an environment like that. It's a confidence killer, that's for certain! I'm sticking to my guns in that I do not care that I could continue to make money for two weeks, I'd rather be fully removed from their nonsense.

They did me a favour. I'm going to spend my weekend cleaning and enjoying my handbags - and my community!

I hope everybody had a lovely week.

Hi @SakuraSakura I’m sorry for the way you were treated. You are more than your job. I’m sending good vibes for a new job where you can be your authentic self, be appreciated, and make a lot more money. :hugs:

I am truly sorry you are going through this.

The middle two look like they have yummy leather!
I agree! I think I’d use those more than the other two, too. They just are more practical sizes and shapes for my life. I love hobo bags and my only one broke last month. But as soon as I think I’ve decided on one of those expensive hobo bags, I get to thinking, honestly I already have a number of practical bags and kind of want a cuter one. I don’t have a small cute bag for dinner, and the heart bag could be that. I also don’t have a top handle, and I could get the Coach and the Kate Spade for less than half the price of the Gucci or Givenchy.I’ve been accused of overthinking and ruminating too much.

First to the New Year's resolution: I have decided to get rid of all the bags/wallets/etc. that I am not actually using. I did this a few days ago and filled 2 bags. 2 bags of bags. Yes indeedy. Going to the local charity. None are expensive brands but the charity will be able to sell them in their thrift store.

Now that I've done that, I need to evaluate what I actually need. I do switch out my bags very frequently to match my outfits, so I feel justified in having a larger bag wardrobe. Also, I don't really spend a lot per bag (no Hermes or Chanel in my collection - haha), so again, I feel okay having a larger number of bags since I use them and I don't go into debt buying them.

Next to the red bags: I was shocked to have so few because I wear a lot of burgundy so I thought I would have more in this color family. However, the purge of a few days previous, did get rid of several red bags that I still like but honestly never wore, so I realize now that the accessories I wear frequently, accent my frequently worn colors rather than match them. Makes sense.

I do however, have a red wallet and two red handbags. None is crazy expensive. All are loved (and therefore survived the purge). All are old. One is very old. The red bag pictured with the wallet is Etienne Aigner. I've had it for quite a while but I don't remember exactly when I got it. From a thrift store I think. One of my favorites to wear with blue jeans and a t-shirt. Perfectly sized for the wallet, car keys, my phone, lipstick, earbuds, a "just in case" mask, and a small note pad with pen (my bare minimum essentials).

The red and black one pictured with the lamp was my mother's from the 1960s. She bought it when she was a teenager and gave it to me when I was a teenager. If my daughter is interested, I will give it to her when she is a teenager (although I will still insist upon being allowed to carry it - lol). It needs a little love to get it back to its former glory, which I will attend to soon.

Btw, anyone else have trouble accurately photographing reds? I found them to keep going too candy-red or too muddy. These bags are so much prettier in person.

They are so pretty.

Go with your gut. If Kate and Coach are speaking to you get them. They are fun and budget friendly.
