2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

August 20 - Burberry, Celine

August 27 - Coach, Chanel

There's a thread glitch and we can't sticky this first post. I'm going to repost your post and see if I can sticky it since it won't be post #1 any longer. Vlad is looking into this with the developers.
I copied the part of the first post that talked about the “weekly challenges” into post 852, and Vlad was able to pin it up to the top. So I think we’re good. But thank you so much

I wish I had better news today guys but... I don't. I pray that everyone else is enjoying their shiny red bags!!

I was fired today.

While I'm going to be okay, this wound is very fresh. They gave me a letter when I was leaving nearly two hours ago. The store has undergone management shift. I knew the new owner wasn't too keen on me so while I'm surprised, I'm not too surprised. What's really disgusting is that one of my coworkers has worked for the company for many years. She's created deep connections, along with dealing with heavy personal matters. I can't imagine how she's feeling right now as I noticed she received the same letter as I did. I'm sick to my stomach right now. I won't be going in for those last two weeks as I owe the new owner nothing.

These are the moments where it is important to reflect upon what we've already accomplished, how far we've come and realize that the world is bigger than a crappy, toxic job. I have the ability to move with change, not against it. I won't let this injure my self confidence. I walked out with my head held high knowing that I don't need them. While this definitely impacts my financial planning I'll figure it out. In the meanwhile.... time to relax.

You're all really incredible. If you're unable to read such a negative post then I understand as well. I'm so happy I have this space to vent and share my new things with you all. Thank YOU!!

I'm so sorry! It sounds like they handled it very poorly, coming out of the blue like that. Will you get unemployment insurance? I hope you get a new position soon that you love.

I don't think I've worked enough to qualify for EI either. There are also other things that I do for money but losing that security really hurts. I genuinely did like my job but I knew when the change was announced my time there was going to be limited. Thank you

I hate that for you. Even if you thought it might be coming, or even if it was toxic, rejection sucks. There’s lots of jobs out there, so maybe there is a better one waiting for you and your boss actually did you a favor. :-)

You will be just fine.

Gosh, sorry about the work loss, their loss.
‘Hang tight. It happens to the best of us.:flowers:

Oh my goodness, I'm sorry to hear that! That is really tough. Definitely take a moment to relax and gather your thoughts. And you are right that it is no reason at all to let this affect your self confidence. We have all seen amazing people get let go and so we all know that it can happen for almost any reason, including the new boss just not liking you. I don't really know you, but you seem clever and accomplished and I'm sure you'll land on your feet.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you find another job soon that is both better in pay & environment.

@SakuraSakura, I’m so sorry and sending positive vibes your way. I truly believe you will land on your feet with something far better. Hugs

The only reddish bag I have is a 32K, Bordeaux, phw, brushed by @docride. It was a Covid special from a Japanese reseller for 4K USD, bc it had minor cosmetic suntanning discoloration that was easily fixed (redyed with weatherizing, no change in texture) by @docride. Here with dior leopard jacket, courreges knit top, and chanel wool pants from last seasons sale. I don’t normally wear size 32. Even when larger bags were in style ten years ago, I always wore a 28. But with the higher volume pant, it seemed right.

ETA: @limom, size 32 kelly. Pants are EU size 38. :) The Japanese reseller might have been either brandJFA or Brandoff. I like bargains and fixer uppers, so long as the bag is structurally sound, and I often wait for prices to hit rock bottom. I have not seen prices that low recently.

Wow, you certainly don’t look like you are wearing size 32 pants.
Who was the Japonese seller? Do you recommend her?

I am carrying a raisin bag right now but have red accessories.
