2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.



• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.





So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

August 13 - Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta

August 20 - Burberry, Celine

August 27 - Coach, Chanel

September 3 - Chloe, Dior

September 10 - Dooney & Bourke, Fendi

September 17 - Ferragamo, Givenchy

September 24 - Goyard, Gucci

October 1 - Hermes, Kate Spade

October 8 - Loewe, Longchamp

October 15 - Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs

October 22 - Michael Kors, Miu Miu

October 29 - Mulberry, Prada

November 5 - Proenza Schouler, Rebecca Minkoff

November 12 - Saint Laurent, Tods

November 19 - Tory Burch, Valentino

November 26 - Bags by Jewelers: Bulgari, Cartier, Tiffany Co, Van Cleef & Arpels. Alternatively, the pillboxes, compacts and other lovelies made by jewelers that fit in your bag.

December 3 - independent artisans and custom bags.

We have LG for both washer and dryer. I’m probably about to jinx myself by typing this, but they have worked well and held up well. Both are front load, so require a bit of maintenance for the washer to deal with smell, which is common for front load (not just LG), but I like them. You can even download different washing cycles, although I never have. My two previous dishwashers were both Maytag and held up well. We have a Bosch now and have been really happy. Also probably jinxing that, but thought I would share!

Wow, it’s fantastic yours have lasted so long! I think it’s true that things aren’t built for longevity any more, everything’s got built in obsolescence these days. As for choosing new, it’s definitely a bit of a lottery, and high cost doesn’t guarantee high performance unfortunately. Might as well stick a pin in the internet.

Do you trust Consumer Reports on these types of purchases? They usually rate reliability.

Thank you all. These are how they were purchased from store. I don't think they're actually painted, more just like a printed design on the leather but I agree looks like art. The tiger was limited edition for year of the tiger last year and one of my favorite bags in my collection even though I never use it. When I first bought it, I kept it sitting out on my dresser for a week just so I could enjoy looking at it. :love:

Someone I know has a GE dishwasher she is super happy with so if I have to buy another one (hope not!), I would probably try it out.

A week for miscellaneous is a great idea! Please do share your Jimmy Choo bags as well as those from other brands that are not in the list. Would love to see them!

On Givenchy and Ferragamo bags -- I love the Antigona but have not bought one. I should check out the soft Antigona when I am in the store next time. As for Ferragamo, I really like a few of their styles like the Iconic Top Handle, Boxyz (discontinued) and the Studio bag. I haven't really felt drawn to anything in their current line-up though.

I have not seen the Antigona soft in person but I do feel the Antigona I have is VERY stiff and hard to get in and out of as a result.

It's one of the reasons I haven't bought the Antigona (the stiffness), but I do like the look of the original Antigona. I am curious to try the soft Antigona the next time I am in the store. Your Givenchy bags are gorgeous! Love the pastel and pink shades.

The tiger bag is stunning! It's the first time I am seeing the Studio bag in this print. I have often eyed the discontinued Gucci Bengal tiger bags when I come across them.

Lol I also bought something from the Gucci tiger collection they did for lunar new year but I think that's different than the Bengals you are referring to. I have also eyed those and thought about getting something at some point (specifically the one with the pink flowers).
