2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

Yes, thank you. Finish and cascade make a pod or tab. When I start using the Miele, I will upgrade and buy Miele power scale or something like that. But I think the finish is working bc the floor of the dishwasher is clear; my cutlery is clean; and no odor and plenty of steam. It’s simply like the dishwasher just decides what it would like to wash lol.

ETA: I’ve also tried DIY cleaner ( various internet concoctions with vinegar or baking soda) after a lot of finish did not seem to do it. Your Electrolux sounds amazing

@DME, every repair person I’ve ever met recommends Maytag
Maytag is what they buy for their own homes

@Purses & Perfumes , re below, absolutely clean that filter on the bottom. Frequently
We got our Maytag dryer in 1985. We've had to replace some things but I love that it is still going strong. Unfortunately, the matching washer had to be replaced about 20 years ago. When we did that, we were told that newer Maytag isn't as good as older.

It's kind of sad that replacing a part is so expensive that it makes more sense to get a new appliance even though the unit is running just fine otherwise. We did the same thing with our very first dishwasher -- the issue was with the racks and so we ended up getting a new one. Glad to hear you are liking it. I am still trying to figure out what to put in the third (top) rack, as I am so accustomed to the basket for the spoons, forks, etc.

Circling back to bags, we have had such frequent downpours this summer that I need a special raincoat for my bags! Rainy days and Mondays...
What's your "rainy day" bag? I've been using a very old pebble grain bag that is going strong despite being exposed to all kinds of weather.
Yeah… its ridiculous :whut:

I put silverware - knives, forks, spoons - on the very top rack. In the baskets in/on the bottom rack, I put bigger utensils - like spatulas, ice cream scoops, tongs, and measuring spoons.

Rainy days - it depends. The only bags I would really worry about getting rained on are my H box leather bags or the Gucci ‘Kelly’ because of water marks (though both the K and the Drag have been rained on with no issues), so I wouldn’t carry them. The rest of my bags will survive just fine.
If it was really pouring and I knew I’d have to walk a long way in the rain - I’d probably carry my Longchamp Le Pliage Neo.

I absolutely love the third rack. I use mine for large utensils and knives. I still put regular silverware in the basket.

For rainy weather I like patent leather or pebbled. I have a vintage Dooney AWL I use in the rain but I also have many pebbled leather bags that would do fine in wet weather. It doesn't rain much where I live.
We do exactly the opposite!
My top rack is shallow though - nothing large fits there.

This will be my first time with a third rack. I’ve always used baskets and prefer to just dump things in them
For rain, I have a 35 trim II that rain seems to just fall off of. Even in weather that would make my synthetic rain bag go soggy. But, I keep a nylon Whole Foods collapsible bag in my handbag if it looks rainy.

I think I will start using the top rack for large serving spoons and suchlike.

So patent leather doesn't get affected by rain? That's a plus point for patent leather. AWL Dooney is back -- I saw an ad for their bags recently.

I wouldn't carry these bags in the rain either if I owned them. They're beautiful!

This is such a good idea. I have a collapsible nylon bag that folds down really small. I might just begin carrying it with me on a regular basis. Synthetic bags do get soggy in the heavy rain. The Trim sounds great, and it can be tucked nicely under the arm too to limit exposure to rain.

Hello dear friends! It’s been a long while. But I’m happy to drop by and find that you ladies are still talking about anything under the sun. Now it’s about dishwashers! Lol.

Work has really been busy. I normally participated on the thread typing on my laptop, but with my hectic days at work, that’s not possible now. I just don’t find it fun typing long posts on my phone.

Anyway, glad to ‘see’ familiar ‘faces’ still!

@cowgirlsboots I’m sorry for your loss.

Uh oh, my new dishwasher is Bosch!:oh: Any further info would be appreciated (not that I can do much about it now, as it's installed already).
I have a Bosch washing machine. It doesn’t always drain properly especially if it’s a small load on a wool or delicates cycle, and it’s ripped buttons off a few things. It’s done this from new :frown: The new dishwasher will definitely be something else.

Rainy days I use one of my clemence bags usually. If it’s really pouring I wear my bag inside my coat

I don't have Chanel or Coach. It's weird because I thought I must still have something Coach.
As far a rainy-day bag I use pebbled leather. If it is torrential rain, I use an Orla Kiely Coated canvas small backpack. That backpack still looks brand new and yet has been through down pours that soaked me .

Sadly I have no Coach.

All my Chanel are vintage now. I only ever bought one (a Cambon). I have another couple of Chanels (the Cambon Tote in ivory/black and python with orange interior and black CF ghw) but no pics that feature the bags enough.

I used to really love CFs and reissues in bright reds, and I also liked the Coco Handle when they first came out with the red lizard handle, but now the only other one I'd like if it came my way would be a brown lamb CF.

@cowgirlsboots Oh gosh, that's shocking! So sorry for your loss.

A question for everyone: What's your "rainy day" bag? I've been using a very old pebble grain bag that is going strong despite being exposed to all kinds of weather.

For me it's either my YSL grain de poudre envelope bag or my Prada saffiano shoulder bag.
Both leathers are pretty heavily treated with a tough coating. It makes them very resilient to scratches and water resistant.

Beautiful! Is the first one also a backpack?
