2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

Hi everyone, this is my first post. I love purses, I love talking about them so I joined the purseforum. I am currently on ban island. I have 14 bags. I am so tempted to want to buy a bag but I want to pay to get a master's degree in international business. All of my bags are contemporary because if they are expenaive I will not use them. I have gone down that road before. I have:
5 Patricia Nash Brailes Satchels
3 Patricia Nash Jules Satchels
1 Patricia Nash crossbody
1 Coach Parker
1 Coach Madison Shoulder bag
1 Rebecca Minkoff quilted Love
1 Aimee Kestenberg All for Love crossbody
1 Scoop Faux Fur Clutch

Thank you for the mention and kind words @Purses & Perfumes , and @stacy_natalie
And yes @BowieFan1971 Knots are very collectible, once you start its hard to stop. I’ve added a few more since that post  pic below lol.

@papertiger , i would love to see a pic of the Knot you are considering! And i hate to be an enabler, but given that you enjoy and appreciate Bottega Veneta, i think you would have no regrets adding a Knot to round out your collection. Its like carrying a work of art. And while the small ones do not fit a phone, they will fit your essentials. I am usually with DH when using one so i just give him my phone to carry lol. In winter the phone will fit in a coat pocket. And its also easy to hold it to the backside of the Knot as you carry it.

They are fun to carry when you are out for a meal, an evening at the theater, and to more formal events like weddings. I love to carry them with casual outfits, even if its just a lunch out. They spark joy! And adding one to your BV collection imo is a great idea. As @Love Of My Life says, and i echo her sentiment, Whats Knot to love!

@jbags07 , you have such a great eye and a lovely collection. I had the opportunity once to purchase a green and blue stitched BV bag (from the collection) and I always regretted passing. Hugs

@Sunshine mama , love your creative ways of carrying your lace LV :)

welcome, @starsandhearts! Sounds like your collection is perfect for you and your priorities re your business degree are exactly as they should be! Here on this thread, as well as on many others, pics of bag collections are always welcome. If you ever want to add pics from your photo album, you can simply click attach file on the bottom left and add.

Welcome to this thread - it’s great to have you here! Best wishes on your master’s, that’s exciting! Like @880 mentioned, feel free to share pics of your bags, and jump into the conversations. :flowers:

I have been wearing it the last three days. Day one I was a bit frustrated and the top would spread apart where the hidden magnets are. By day two figured out how to load it up so it works well for me and no more spread top. Day 3 it was so light and easy to use I decided to stay in it rather than switching to one that looked better with my skirt, because it was so comfortable and cute to use. Today will be severe storms I think so I will switch to coated canvas Orla Kiely Backpack. I was nervous when I saw that the bag did not open like the Ellis tote I have from them. In the end it will be worn more because it does zip closed and a bit of snow won't harm it.
Thanks! That's good to know. It is so cute.

Welcome! I feel almost the same way about expensive purses. Most of my bags are contemporary too, mostly Coach. I have a few premier designer brands that I bought for good prices on the resale market.

Hi everyone and sorry! I haven´t been online for a while. Life got in the way and a very silly sewing project, that is way over my head, but I accepted the challenge and now it has to work out...
I wished I could sew right now- as a nightowl the middle of the night is my most productive time- but DH is sleeping and "loud activities " are off limits. Living open plan is not always the best option...

We will be leaving for "home" at the end of the week and going on to Paris from there on Tuesday.

I´m getting nervous... what will I pack and how will I manage not to look as shabby as I do right now? The usual. Sorry, I need to vent...

I hate leaving the house, because then I have to live up to expectations. In here it´s not important that my hair has grown out its dye job again and my nails are growing out my first ever attempt of using UV polish. I am getting my usual comments... grey, old, fat, meant jokingly but hitting hard.

But are expectations important? Why do I have to live up to them? Why am I even almost making them my own?

Ok, it will be much nicer to dress up a little and almost all vintage pieces in my wandering wardrobe are exactly right for this. The shabby bit are the very few recent, fast fashion, overly comfy pieces I own. And we are going by car. I could just shove a ton of my fineries into huge shopping bags and take it all...

The hair? Honestly, after the last extensive dye job- dark streaks all over- I got nice comments like "looking younger" at home, but personally I wasn´t sure and had problems to recognise myself. It grew out beautifully, natural looking. I might leave it as is or only add very few tiny dark streaks to the front at home. The hairdresser didn´t have an open appointment within the next two weeks. It´s holiday time, they said.
The nails? They need to be done. Youtube might be able to tell me how to remove that magic stuff, that sticks so well and hasn´t suffered at all from constant sewing over the last two weeks. Cheapskate me should have bought the complete kit with remover and all... I only bought one bottle of polish and used the ancient UV lamp from the fleamarket.

And which bag to take?
Something fancy for home, I guess, maybe the Miss Dior I haven´t even worn yet and something under the radar and as practical as possible for Paris. I´m thinking Lady Perla here. It´s big enough for my needs, can take a wide soft crossbody strap (not the slim, hard original shoulder strap), will go with everything from boho over casual to vintage, it has a reliable zipper and it was cheap, so if any scratches happen, I shouldn´t be too sad...
