2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

Can I ask how you like the red / orange coach ???? Do you think it would go with a lot ? I normally gravitate towards neutrals, but this is such a pretty pop of color.
Thanks. It goes with more than I thought it would. It also has a web strap that is that red + pink, so goes well with pink when that is worn. I also think it goes well with white, cream, any shade of brown, black, and navy. I have 3 summer dresses with combinations of white and navy, and it looks great with those. Looks better with other saturated colors rather than pastels, except pink because of the other strap.

In my fantasy life, I'd love to have a rolly Rimowa hard-case carry on with a beautiful Dior or Fendi tote on top, and walking around leisurely to my gate while shopping at the airport.
But...yea, that's not gonna happen.

Medical mission or business trip would be a backpack for my personal item. Smaller handbag would be inside.

Going on holiday would be a duffle bag, has to have straps long enough to be on my shoulder or crossbody. (my smaller handbag would also be inside)

I did have to wear one of my suits at the airport on my business trip earlier this month, to conserve space, and I looked very posh (especially in California lol, where leggings or sweatpants and hoodies are the norm) I did get a lot of looks and a nice compliment from a young lady.
Ha, ha, yes, the large Gucci leather travel bag I saw might very well suit my fantasy life better too!
A duffle bag absolutely needs a strap long enough to carry on the shoulder; it can get really hard on the palms to carry it by the shorter straps only.
I have been thinking about it for weeks! I would love to have a white suit set or a white blazer and another pair of white trousers.

But I am trying to be really good and not buy too much before taxes are done. (I try to do that every year). It's hard because March is also my birthday month and I want to go on a shopping spree haha.
Also, I've already bought 2 pieces of RTW, a pair of shoes, 2 luxury gifts and a contemporary bag lol.

Now trying really hard because last week I got an offer for a quota bag from my Hermes SA that I declined but it's a positive sign and I want to make sure my bank account is ready! :P
Somewhere in my recent YouTube fashion content viewing, I recently saw a very chic white pant-suit worn with a black belt, black elegant boots and I think a black Prada small hobo. Looked very nice.
If you would care to share more about the quota bag offer you declined, we would love to hear. A birthday month is special, so I hope you can get something on your wish list close to your birthday!

Ooo the pantsuit look feels so cool + elegant! :coolio:

Sure! It was a Constance, size 24, etoupe with gold hdw.

With big bags being in, I can see this being more desirable.
But like how I told my SA, I said I was one of those weird people who isn't into constances. :P

Haha that would be awesome!
It was a sudden offer, totally out of the blue. Tbh, I haven't even told him what my dream bag is because I didn't expect an offer so soon! When I first met him, he brought up the subject in conversation and I said didn't know what I wanted (true at the time) and he said to let him know when I made up my mind.
But I expected an offer much later down the line, like, in years! Because my local Hermes store is very hot and has a lot of other high-buying clientele who spend a lot, way more than me.
I also don't buy very often. I've seen my SA only a handful of times, maybe once every 3-4 months and I let him know I wasn't going to be coming by frequently. :P
(maybe he likes me because I don't really talk about quota bags with him , I've never asked for an item or hinted for anything)

That's great that you got an offer so soon, and good on you for not getting tempted by the offer if it wasn't your dream bag. I like many things about the Constance, but the Kelly and the Bolide are the two I fancy the most from H, both in size 28 or smaller. Perhaps in the future, I will get around to exploring these bags further -- for the present, I am enjoying all the bags that I didn't have the opportunity to wear during the pandemic.
Are there any colors or leathers that you particularly like? I think box is so beautiful, and a Kelly in box leather is just perfection! Hope you get your dream bag soon!

Is the Gucci, the Savoy Duffle? I think it has a strap

Every 3-4 months is quite regular.

It's not unusual to be offered, it's just that we see a lot of members on the Hermes Forum who basically only want bags. SAs can smell it a mile off so they keep them buying other things for as long as possible, as soon as he/she get one bag, he/she wants another and the game starts again.

Is the Gucci, the Savoy Duffle? I think it has a strap
I looked up the Savoy Duffle, and it's not that one. The Savoy duffle has more of the classic, barrel-shaped duffle style. The one I saw was shaped a bit differently. I did a web search using the words brown leather duffle bag from Gucci and I saw the bag on two sites but did not click on them since I was not familiar with the sites. It has the green red webbing running down, a small GG logo near the top center of the bag, and a zip top. The color was lovely -- a kind of rich, cognac, tan colored leather. The stylish lady who was carrying it didn't have a long strap on it, but was just resting it on her rolling case (Rimowa, I think).

If you have only one black, it may as well be a classic

Haha agreed!

It’s funny, I keep seeing, in various parts of the forum or on Purseblog, that the Celine Luggage is pretty ‘over’ and dated. It always surprises me. I only have one and don’t really have the urge for a second micro, but I still think they are gorgeous and would get a nano if they were still doing them in fun colors.

I love both your groupings! Great taste from the beginning!
Thank you dc! :flowers:
Love the Celine bags! A Phantom may find its way into my collection at some point…been admiring them for years. The Belt bag too. Love the Box but saw it in person and the size/shape does not work for me.
Thank you @BowieFan1971! :hugs:
@More bags, thank you for the compliments. I haven't been able to keep up with the bag showcase this year, but will try to pick at least one bag in the showcase color and feature it.
I love your black bag collection, and especially the reissue bag! I wish I had got one before the Chanel prices escalated so much!
Thank you P&P, the black Reissue is one of my Favourites!
You have a black for every eventuality! Perfect.
:hbeat:
Such am amazing collection!
Thank you Sunshine mama!

Hi everyone. Just a quick pop in to say we're okay and to thank you for your support. It was the right decision to call an ambulance. Turned out that both mum and myself needed to be looked after as we had both started severe chest infections. Apparently this Omicron strain likes to attack the upper respiratory tract early. We're now discharged. Still testing positive, still hacking up our lungs, but much improved and not in need of hospitalization. We'll remain in isolation, complete our course of meds and hopefully be back to normal soon.
Just taking each day as it comes and feeling SO thankful it wasn't worse. Everyone on the covid unit reassured me that they have patients mum's age getting through this strain without many complications, and insisted it really is milder than the Alpha and Delta strains. That, in itself, feels like such a comfort after these past few years of dread.
Thank you all so much again. Back soon to talk about pretty bags!

Thank you for the update, @jblended, and glad to hear that you and your mom are back home and recovering. Take good care and rest until you are both completely recovered.

Oh my gosh! I'm here irregularly, so I didn't know you and your mum were going through this. I'm so glad you both are feeling better!:hugs:
