2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

Hi everyone. Just a quick pop in to say we're okay and to thank you for your support. It was the right decision to call an ambulance. Turned out that both mum and myself needed to be looked after as we had both started severe chest infections. Apparently this Omicron strain likes to attack the upper respiratory tract early. We're now discharged. Still testing positive, still hacking up our lungs, but much improved and not in need of hospitalization. We'll remain in isolation, complete our course of meds and hopefully be back to normal soon.
Just taking each day as it comes and feeling SO thankful it wasn't worse. Everyone on the covid unit reassured me that they have patients mum's age getting through this strain without many complications, and insisted it really is milder than the Alpha and Delta strains. That, in itself, feels like such a comfort after these past few years of dread.
Thank you all so much again. Back soon to talk about pretty bags!
I'm so glad you both weathered this storm but sad you had to go through it.

I love them all! Black is beautiful...
The Korret is an absolute favourite and I have started falling in love with the Gucci Bamboo style.

Why I wear black t shirts more often than white myself

i love black bags, but don’t wear them as much as other neutrals anymore. The 28K retourne (a covid deal) has been loaned out to a friend for months (I don’t have the courage to rehome it permanently bc it’s one of those forever bags, but I’m more a sellier K than a retourne K person. Now that clutches and bags are tiny, I do wear the K longue wallet as a clutch. It fits the iPhone 14, cc, a key, and wipes.

I loved my vintage deal crinoline trims and Vespa, but never wore them bc I was afraid of damaging the crinoline, so gave them to friends  The last pic was the bag that got away. Mary Katrantzou for Bulgari. Gold HW which is not usually my preference. No doubt it’s built up in my head, so I’m not all that sad I missed it. Sold out before I knew it existed.

I also have gray and navy bags that look black, but not included here. And, I included patterned bags that are mainly black, but not patterned bags than are partially black. I first saw the bottega Boston bag with lizard swirls at Saks over a decade ago. Back then it was almost 4K. Fast forward a number of years and I got it for about 300 USD from fashionphile. Worth the wait, but given infrequency of wear, I paid the right price. I probably wear the dior men’s saddle the most which is odd bc I hated the saddle the first time around. Great travel bag.

Your black bags are beautiful! I´d love to own them all... the little manta boy is so adorable!

Haha agreed!

It’s funny, I keep seeing, in various parts of the forum or on Purseblog, that the Celine Luggage is pretty ‘over’ and dated. It always surprises me. I only have one and don’t really have the urge for a second micro, but I still think they are gorgeous and would get a nano if they were still doing them in fun colors.

The tPF universe is quite small. I would happily carry a Luggage, no problem

In my fantasy life, I'd love to have a rolly Rimowa hard-case carry on with a beautiful Dior or Fendi tote on top, and walking around leisurely to my gate while shopping at the airport.
But...yea, that's not gonna happen.
Your fantasy sounds so familiar... not gonna happen for me, either! I mean I have a battered 60ies Rimowa I use all the time for checked baggage (and get it back a little more battered each time), but that´s how close I will get to the fantasy. For cabin baggage I use the cheapest ever little- but amazingly roomy- nylon trolly thing that can be worn as a backpack too and my personal item will be a fairly big handbag with an added crossbody strap for hands-free. This could be my big YSL kisslock bag or a Goldpfeil vintage bag.

Th Korret is a revelation, let me show you more - it's even sexier inside. The wallet is built in to the bag and there's a little red leather-backed mirror. Red leather interior with black grosgrain lining the pockets

 I wish I could find a lipstick in that red

I always love hearing everyone's tales of of how you're selling/letting go of stuff and generally managing your wardrobes.

Oh happy day, I literally got off my a*se in the lunch hour and sold some more jewellery that was literally just sitting around. One piece I had since the early '00s and had never worn (when I bought it I didn't realise it was a dupe for a Tiffany piece - put me right off). Some other pieces I'd worn and worn - but now I have better and some pieces I didn't know I had let alone remember wearing.

This was good because that SLP jacket has left a dent in where my bank account used to be.

I also took some pieces to be repaired/remodelled but getting quotes. An out of this world opal ring that's too big and a plat/diamond eternity ring that's too small came home again because they can't be resized, so I'll just have to tape-up the big ring and make the eternity a circle pendant.

All in all, I felt I made progress.

That's great that you got an offer so soon, and good on you for not getting tempted by the offer if it wasn't your dream bag. I like many things about the Constance, but the Kelly and the Bolide are the two I fancy the most from H, both in size 28 or smaller. Perhaps in the future, I will get around to exploring these bags further -- for the present, I am enjoying all the bags that I didn't have the opportunity to wear during the pandemic.
Are there any colors or leathers that you particularly like? I think box is so beautiful, and a Kelly in box leather is just perfection! Hope you get your dream bag soon!

I'm more of a neutral bag girl. Currently the dream bag is birkin 30, black with palladium hdw, in either togo or epsom leather. Though I heard that epsom is special order now....:crybaby:

Though, he knows I'm more if a neutral so he may offer me a combo that I might fall in love with haha. I would prefer palladium hdw, I think it makes a bag look so cool and fresh~

I loooovvve the look and feel of box leather! It's so luxurious! But I know that I'll get the poor leather scratched up on day 1. I know it's not a leather that necessarily needs to be babied, but I am just not careful with my bags. :P (it's me, not the bag! haha)

Thank you!
