One of my H scarves has sold! :yahoo: It's been with the consignor (someone very professional, who I've dealt with in the past and trust a lot) for well over a year, and I had begun to wonder if it would just stay on her site forever. But all of a sudden my PayPal account popped up: You Have Money! Yay!
The new season of H scarves has just begun to appear on the Hermès web site, so if I find something I like, it will be $$$ in, $$$ out. Not quite a break-even, but every little bit helps!

Elaine, would you mind sharing the name of the consignor you use for H scarves? I’m sending a few to Fashionphile, but would love to have another option.

That’s awesome! Can’t wait to see what you get!
There are two designs I'm semi-interested in, but they're kind of "out there" so I don't dare buy either one from the web site. I'll have to wait until our trip to San Francisco, when I can try them in the boutique. Always assuming they haven't sold out. :annoyed:

But I didn't buy one in the S/S collection, and I'll certainly survive if I don't find one in the A/W collection. First world problems. :P

I went back to the mall and looked at Chanel jumbos in black lamb and black caviar. Black lamb wins hands down. No more questions on that.

But, honestly, after looking at both, I have to wonder if there isn’t a bag I’ll like more for my “special” black bag. I feel like I’m speaking heresy but, I wasn’t thrilled with either. :-s I have so many bags I like more than them.

So, it was a good exploration. Still on involuntary ban island.

So, what would this perfect black bag look like if you could invent it? Maybe imagining it will help your search.

I work with Jan at It's All Goode. I've consigned with her, and also purchased from her (it's a perpetual motion machine, LOL!)
Sometimes pieces can take a while to sell, but she is lovely to work with. Here is the site:

I think you just invented a new bag for Chanel to produce! I don’t know that the Reissue is ever made in lamb, but I love Reissues and I’d love to see one in lamb! Ditto the single flap. Maybe someday there will be a seasonal bag that fits those specs — a girl can dream, right? :P
Dreaming is a whole lot cheaper than buying, for sure, and takes up less closet space!

What are the Reissues made of? Is it caviar? I thought I've seen photos on Instagram, and the leather looked quite soft.

Thank you! I just looked briefly and she has some beautiful scarves.
Yes, she does, and I think her prices are very fair. I've bought from/consigned with her for probably 4 or 5 years now. Never a problem in either direction. When there's an issue with a scarf (like a snag or a stain) she always discloses it. If she calls something "pristine," you can be sure it is. <enable>

The classic quilted ones are made of distressed calf. It has an aged, vintage look but is quite hardy. The latest batch of chevron Reissues are — I think — made of sheepskin. It’s smooth, but not as soft as lamb. (Please don’t ask me what the difference is between lambskin and sheepskin — that’s one for the experts in the Chanel forum! :P) Reissues have been made in Caviar in the past, but I don’t think ever in lamb.

That’s interesting about the snags. FF sent me an offer with the caveat that they are no longer accepting scarves with snags or pulls. It sounds like their clientele only wants pristine scarves, and don’t tend to be “collectors” who would kill for a certain design.

Thanks. One of these days I just have to get really brave and walk into the Chanel boutique when we're up in San Francisco. And they'll show me the Reissues, and explain the leather, and then I'll know. Who knows... maybe I won't even mind the double-flap.

I have no idea why I'm so intimidated at the thought of walking into the Chanel boutique! I have no problem going into Hermès, or Neiman Marcus, or LV, or anyplace else high-end. And I'm a fully functioning adult, with high self-esteem and a Ph.D. (as if that matters). But when we go to SF and I walk past the Chanel boutique, I can never summon the courage to walk inside! :confused1:

Oh, that IS interesting. See, if there's a certain design I'm desperate for, I wouldn't object to a snag if its in an easy-to-hide place, and if the seller shows a photo so I can judge for myself.
