This is a beautiful story, I especially liked what you said “they were paying attention all along ... to the larger picture of who we are and what makes our hearts sing.” What a lovely relationship you have with your DH. It is wonderful to be seen and feel understood!

I feel very lucky to have him! He’s a great shopper, too, to a point — when he’s done, he’s really done. I have to be aware of when he’s reaching the end of his rope and about to get testy! He made a great show of grumbling over having to look at my scarves, but once he committed to doing it, I had his full attention. To be fair, I’ve done the same for him with his collections of comic book art and hockey jerseys!

I have to say, Mr. S is fabulous! Also, I truly hope he and my DH never meet! :P They make too much sense and call us out when we’re not going about things the absolute best way. Which is good, but also a little disconcerting at times!

I coerced DH into going through my Hermes 90 cm silks yesterday — a true case of be careful what you wish for! First, he said he needed to see ALL the scarves, not just the ones I was thinking of selling. So, one by one, we went through all 16 scarves, both unfolded and laid flat, and worn. Then, he told me to put them all out, folded, so he could see them all together on the guest room bed. Then, as I watched with my mouth open, he quickly organized them by usage and color, and very matter-of-factly said, “OK, so these are the ones you keep and use. These two don’t get worn much but are special so they don’t get sold (this was referring to one holiday-specific scarf and the very first H scarf I ever got). This one goes because if you’re going to wear a scarf with orange, you have this one and this one. This one goes because you don’t like the design and the colors are similar to this one that you do wear. And this one you don’t like the colors on, and this one you never wear. And these two are on the fence for you to decide.”

:wtf:

Wow. Four to be sold, two still to be determined, the rest to keep. Just like that. I was a little stunned, but the thing is, he was right. So, I sent photos of the four to Fashionphile, have two others in the To Decide category, and the rest are back on the shelf in my closet.

It’s kind of funny when we ask our DH’s to pay attention, and it turns out they were paying attention all along — if not to the tiny details of leather and silk, to the larger picture of who we are and what makes our hearts sing.
:eek::wtf::wtf::wtf:
HOW AMAZING to have such a partner!!!
That’s a really good point about considering bags to be sunk costs. Before I joined tPF, I never would have considered selling any bag. And selling can be a good option, if your tastes have changed, or you’re done with a bag, or if you just flat out made a mistake buying something. But. I see so many posts (it seems especially prevalent in the Chanel forum) where people ask about the resale value of this bag vs. that bag. And I think, If you really love the bag, why are you asking about resale? I mean, you haven’t even bought it yet! Not that resale value doesn’t matter at all, but it seems to take the fun out of buying something you love to have to think that analytically right from the start. Just sayin.
I totally agree!!! I for the most part, love-love-love my bags and cannot imagine ridding myself of any. Except MAYBE 1-2, which I'd already gotten at ridiculously low prices. (Yet I still feel compelled to keep all tags and must resist keeping packaging...)

I am loving unique hardware on bags. Rainbow would be so cute to have. Is this bag heavy? I know some of the AW’s have been when they have the studding underneath.

All great points!
Yep, I’m totally scarred from the flipping. I think it’s just such a waste of time and resources. So, I want to avoid it like the plague. And, I am a total analyzer bunny. LOL!!!

I enjoy my new bags so much, I want to keep having that yippee feeling with everything else!

So, yes, I’m going to relax and just see what I like. I did go into Chanel to try a black jumbo in caviar. It was ok. So lamb it would be! It is what it is. :shrugs:

(side note: the Chanel SA said she’s surprised I’d sell my patent jumbo as it’s always requested but not always available. I find that hard to believe.)

@msd_bags - yes. I like high end bags LOL! but I don’t see me ever moving seriously into Hermes because I’m just not a fan of most of the styles. I want to explore the Kelly but, other than that, nothing H appeals to me. I’m going to keep an eye on Gucci, pray for Dior to get back to a spot I like, and pick up one off bags from other brands I fall for.

Also, I agree on the YSL. It wouldn’t work for me for business either. But, the tote I’m looking for isn’t for work - it’s for my fun time. So the LouLou would be fine...if I loved it.

Good job staying on track!!!
Have you considered card holders. I use either those or small French purses because I don’t like large wallets eating up space, either. My unavoidable space hogs are my sunnies.
Agreed on the space hogging, as I like to bring as little as possible at all times! (Possibly why I feel the need for so many options?) I have a lot of sunnies but because of this the ones I use daily are the ones which pack flat!!!

No. It stay like you saw. No bulge. Just slim and the leather is oh-so-super soft like Chanel lamb or more. It's prone for scratch mark though, but can be rub off easily. I think it's lamb, but the SA said it's calf.
I was wondering too! Just saw a flat one online I considered but assumed it would bulge. Can't remember brand-:confused1:

I think this is a new design. It can fully hold the bills without folding. And there're 3 card slots in the front pouch.

I love this. If it can hold US dollars without folding I will definitely get one. I’ve needed a flat wallet and only saw ones from Lodis. I didn’t like the strap over the cards.
That Viera is working well, but Oh so many cards! This would make me a little crazy. Don't some of them have phone apps you can use instead? (loyalty cards for shops, Starbucks, train tickets, etc.)
I thought the same thing. I don’t carry many cards - only 6: Drivers license, AmEx, Visa, Debit Card, Bz Credit Card and Health Ins Card. So I never need lots of slots. I used to have lots of loyalty card key fobs and got rid of all those too.
My 2nd bag at the consignment shop sold! I’m happy that I got a good payout, almost the same as my purchase cost. Oh, and the bag is the small black Dior Panarea.
CONGRATS!!!!!

I love and collect sunnies so none of mine are the more functional fold flat kind which means they are definite space hogs. Whenever I see a tiny purse I immediately think - nope, can’t fit sunnies, phone, card holder, keys and lip color so it’s out. I can’t / won’t downsize below those items so any bag that can’t hold them comfortably is a no go for me.

I’m like you. I save everything the bag comes with. It doesn’t take up that much room and it helps with resale.

I’m headed home later this evening and can’t wait. I’m exhausted beyond belief - surgery, 2 cross state drives, 2 bday parties, baseball game, dinners with friends...

I just wanna crawl into a cave, deploy a scary fire breathing monster outside to eat anyone who tries to visit me and sleep for a week! :faint:

My final foot surgery was moved to Friday so I’m going to have the world’s quietest July 4th holiday and keep the calm going through the weekend. Books, surfing, mindless TV and maybe a massage is all I see happening.

P.S. I always need to take a variety of bags with me. I’m sick of carrying my FendI BTW & LV LMII BB.:yucky:

On the subject of flat pouches and card holder, I was so ignorant that I thought I was getting a long wallet size when I purchased this Mulberry online a couple of weeks back!! My jaw almost dropped as I was opening my box from Harrods. I was so mad at myself for not double checking the size! This is 2.75" x 5" while a long wallet would be 4 x 7.5! I might still use this, or maybe gift it. Still thinking about it.

It's very pretty though. Can you down size to use it?
