Stunning choices! ... I love the CduC and boulevards shawls especially!

Here are my goodies. Thanks for letting me share.
Well over ten years ago, at the old location outside of the Metro Mironisnel. I still have a vert olive barenia birkin from this era, complete with a tiny s stamped under the logo. But I love it. The bags were available on the third day of the sales back then, which was also the VIP day. Salespeople would tell you to meet them in a discreet corner, then show up with a purse hidden inside a shopping bag. You peeked in the bag and said yes or no.
Thanks so much for for sharing! Those pewter Oran's would have been mine@luxurina, I wear 39.5 in shoes and my experience was different than what another tPF poster experienced. Shoes was my first stop once inside, and I found several SAs who were polite and willing to check in the back for anything not displayed on the racks for 39.5. I was looking for a black bootie I saw last year in Istanbul (I know I wrote down the name but I can no longer locate it) that fit my feet like butter on warm toast. I was hoping to perhaps find those, but the only booties they had were "clunky" styles, which I cannot wear with my large sized feet. Ironically, I bought the flat white sandals mentioned here earlier with a laurel leaf pattern. I say ironically because I very rarely wear white, and I even more rarely wear a flat open style sandal. I found the design intriguing, however, so I did decide to take them. Time will tell if I ever wear them!
Over the years I have discovered that certain pieces I was reticent about in the boutique (or carré designs gifted to me by DH) I grew more fond of over the years. I have never been able to part with any Hermes goodies I have, but I have several times considered allowing myself to let a carré or scarf ring go to someone who would give it more love than I have. I still have the first carré I purchased in 1981 for my husband's mother. Now that she is no longer with us, I have it back and I have been conflicted several times when I've vacillated about letting it go (it is an Astrologie in turquoise colorway) because I don't wear that color well, but I have not yet worked up the courage to say goodbye to a piece that is imbued with so many memories.
If they had any Orans in my size--flat or heels--I would have happily taken them, but alas, they did not. I saw only one in a pewter color, and I had to pass on that as I cannot wear that color either.
Great story ! I love the way you tell it. Now, I dream of les Chemins secrets in 140 cm.Hello! Sorry for my delay in posting about the Hermes Sale. (Side note: When quitting your job and moving house internationally, maybe don’t take three days to go to Paris for a sale.)
HA HA just kidding. Definitely always go to the sale, no matter what.
I got in the queue with some friends at 4:45am. One friend was like, “That seems early.” But When we arrived, we were easily 100th in line!
At maybe 8am, this lady who, I am not kidding, has cut in line ahead of me in previous years (THE SAME LADY! I know because of her unmistakable plastic surgery. WHY DOES SHE KEEP FINDING ME?) jumped ahead of me. I was furious. But I had also been up for 4 hours at that point and had to remind myself to not be a rage-filled manic or get thrown out of the sale.
Hermes has taught me about patience, if nothing else.
We are not quite in at 9am, which is pretty irritating. First stop: Belts.
(Side note: I was in the queue behind queue jumper but saw my friend ahead of her, and BLAM, I JUMPED THE QUEUE BACK! It was a tiny victory, but very sweet and it made up for everything.) I’ve never owned an Hermes Belt before, so I wasn’t sure what was going to happen when I started looking at them. Would I even find one? Turns out, no, I wouldn’t. I would find 9. So that happened. Ultimately, I played a game of forced choice to get the out of control 9 down to 4, very sensible belts. (I mean, if you consider a €950 for a belt sensible. Apparently, I do.) You are looking (L to R) at a CdC in Etain, Etriviere in Bleu Paradis, [Belt type whose name I don't know] in Malachite/Bleu Indigo and a belt strap in Black/Gold.

Once I was done getting my first belt (and second etc), I moved on to the 140s. 140s are my first love, and I was super anxious about getting silk 140s. Turns out, no one wants silk 140s. So great news for me! I had the pick of the litter. I found a dark grey Les Cles, Les Chemins Secrets in Red ( I wanted Navy but they only had red and Teal). Then I started playing around with the cashmere. I only have one, but thought it would be good to have more, as I’m moving to a colder country now, so I picked up L’Arbre du Vent in a colourway I was obsessed with. I also picked up a scarf ring, and cashmere Tigre Tigre in purple, but then thought, I’m never going to wear this, and bailed on the scarf at the cash desk.

After I was done there, I moved over to the 90s, my first love. (Oh? Did I contradict myself? Well you don’t have to be rude about it.) It was pretty late in the morning at this point, so there wasn’t a ton left. I was so lucky my friend picked up a La Maison des Carrés Hermès for me, because they were gone by the time I got there. I picked up a few 90s, mostly for other people.

Then on to shoes, and other stuff, but I was pretty content with all my goodies, so I left for the FSH store after a quick change. I met with one of my friends who was checking out the new jewellery collection. We were sitting upstairs waiting for the SA to bring out some pieces when this group of girls come up to go to the VIP room next to us. I was making a joke about how it was probably some super famous K-Pop star I didn’t recognise, kicking some low level VIP out of the room when out walked SARAH JESSICA PARKER. She looked at us (Which must have been like looking at two deer in headlights realizing their favourite deer-celebrity is in their favourite deer-shop) and walked off. It was bananas.
After my friend headed to the train station, and I went back to the hotel, I decided to check back in on the sale, just to see if it was super busy. (Also, I was meant to pick up a scarf ring for someone and I forgot, but couldn't suffer through another line at that moment.) It wasn't! But the 90s were decimated - there was almost nothing interesting left. I went back to the silk 140s (which were still being ignored), and picked up another one! And I found a really beautiful cashmere which is from SS 17! Whoop! Add two pocket squares and a 70, and I'm done. See you in Jan!

Ah, yes. This is what may easily have happened because they did ask each client whether they were paying with cash or credit card. And he had this trouble on Day 1 of the Summer Soldes when the waiting lines for the cash register were easily an hour wait or even longer. Whichever one he selected, the cashier there was only able to ring up one type of payment.Oh that's true. Thanks for pointing that out. Usually, stores can have some cashiers dedicated to 'cards only' and other cashiers take both cash and cards. But I paid a mixture not this time but a couple of years ago (of course the regulation was there already) so I don't know if they changed the rule for not accepting a mixture of methods. This can really be up to the shops although i'd still be a bit surprised that H didn't help splitting the payment...
And yes, money laundering was the word I was looking for.![]()
