happy new year everyone!!! i love the idea of this thread. i would like to join and try. i will give my very best :-)

i think i have come to a point that i can say that i love every single bag that i have. i recently bought a chanel boy bag to complete my chanel collection. i felt so happy that i thought it was really the last chanel bag that i would buy then i tried to convince myself that i need a jumbo. you know the cycle of how you start thinking of the next bag after just acquiring a new one. i am a medium flap girl. it is the size i love and the one that looks good on me. who am i kidding with buying a jumbo just to have one?!? i need to remind myself of this everytime i get tempted. i will try to stay strong and not buy a jumbo. no more bags for 2015 except the longchamp le pliage in all leather for those times when i can't wear my other bags.

for 2015, i don't plan/want to make any super splurges but i want to buy some new SLGs. however, i will limit it to 4 - a new french wallet (i am open to any brand), lv cles in da and in vernis (griotte) as well as an lv round coin purse in mono. i figured i need these so i can rotate more in order to not get bored quickly :-) i also love shoes but i will try to resist buying new ones. i want to enjoy what i have after receiving the two tory burch boots i have ordered. as for clothes, i already have a downsized wardrobe (took me two years to get to this point!). i will try to do the one item of clothing a month thing and i will only buy if i really need it and if it can be mixed with the other items of clothing i already have.

i am feeling nervous writing this down but i know that it will help me focus :-) i shall visit this thread regularly and read thru our progress. i wish us all lots of fun, health and success in all our endeavours (including this one!) for 2015!

My goals this year are fairly simple.

01. Do not allow my emotions to dictate my wallet. Some people are emotional eaters, I am an emotional shopper.

02. Do not buy bags just because they are on sale, hard to find, or because I saw a reveal and must have the bag now as well. Buy only items that are planned for and well researched.

With that being said, I have two definite bigger purchases in mind that will correlate with meeting personal, professional, and financial goals as well as the ability to buy them with cash. I have a couple of other bags in mind as well.

Ideally, I will make two major purchases this year along with three or four other purchase slated to not exceed a certain budget.

In the meantime, if I do not enjoy the bags I currently own, it should seem that I have no need to purchase anymore. So I am going to make an effort to enjoy what I own and give away what I haven't made the effort to enjoy.

Happy new year everyone !

I have read this thread with interest and hoping to appreciate and use the bags I own this year. Last year I sold all the bags that I never used and have now about 12 bags which I need to rotate throughout the year.

I have looked really carefully at my collection and there are still a couple of gaps I would love to fill. So If the opportunity arises I hope to purchase these bags which I have been wanting for over 6 months and keep returning to look at again and again so I think they will not be impulse, bargain purchases but pieces that will compliment my wardrobe and be used

So I'm hoping for a black Mini givenchy nightingale as an every day across body bag
A Louis Vuitton neverfull or delightful as a go to grab bag and my first chanel as an investment piece (this one might be beyond my reach for now). That's it I don't need any more however I may end up wanting more anyway lol

I love the idea of 1 item of clothing per month and will try to stick to that too as I have lots in my wardrobe and so much I don't actually wear. I'm hoping to buy quality not quantity this year.

Good luck everyone on your goals for 2015 and I look forward to all the photos of much loved bags in use :)

I'm in. Happy New Years! I hope everybody has a prospering and joyful year. I redid my whole purse collection to better reflect my style. The excitement of buying bags is starting to fade. So, I am looking towards other interest like buying cool shoes and learning to sew. I'm so excited about designing my own clothes that is tailored to me. My goal is to buy one or two bag and some accessories to go with my bags. Then I will shop in my closet and buy a new bag every other year or two. I'm happy about my goal and look forward to meeting it. :smile1:

Happy New Year everybody!

Here's another thing that I learned: I need to stay away from the reveal threads.

I am very proud of myself that I resisted a bag that I saw the other day in a store: it was sooo pretty, well made and in a gorgeous shade of light brown. But I already have a very similar one that I use for work, so no need :smile1:

Good luck with everybody's resolutions! We can do it!!

Happy New Year to all! I look forward to being among the hardy souls who have resolved to shop from their own closets. I have finally rid myself of those closet monsters lurking in the corners and now only have bags that I will wear without a qualm. No more impulse purchases or clearance rack finds. Whenever my nearest and dearest ask me what I want for my birthday, anniversary etc. I'll suggest more French cookware and books by Jacques Pepin and Eric Ripert.

We all know what our goals are. Now we need to figure out how to achieve them. I found one thing that helps me that someone suggested last year is to keep a list of your bags on you. I keep it in my note section on my phone. This way before I buy something new I need to check it to make sure I do not already have something like it. For me if I like the new one better and think it would function better then I need to get rid of the old one. Since that is pain to do that alone sometimes helps. The list on my phone is sorted by style. I keep a paper list at home that is divided by color and somewhat in size order.
Another thing I do is I stick to a limited amount of space for my bags. I do not squish my bags so when the space is full, I can not add to it until I get rid of some first. What are some of the suggestions you have to keep us in our various goals?

I have a wish list board on Pinterest. If anything catches my eye I pin it. Then revisit it often to see if I'm still interested. If not it gets removed. If it does, then it goes into a list I keep on my phone for items I am allowing myself to purchase.

I keep my collection in style book to monitor cost per wear and what I currently own in my collection. This is on both my iPad and iPhone so I never have the excuse of "forgetting" what I have.

I also have to make effort to not go shopping as frequently.

Can't wait to here how others will do their resolutions.

I'm trying to stick away from the red "sale" signs. And I try to do all my shopping in real stores and avoid the internet or catalogues. So I don't end up with clothes that don't fit perfectly, as I'm too lazy to return them (same for bags). Also: The thought of going to the store often turns the lust for shopping away. 😜 Furthermore I try to ask myself, if the item fits to my wardrobe. Regarding bags I must ask myself if they are too heavy for me to carry. I suffer from double-major scoliosis and heavy bags are a no-go. Regarding books I have a list on my computer of how many I bought and how many I read. This works really fine. Perhaps I extend that list for clothes and bags. But I know my unstructured self... 😳

Happy 2015 everyone! I already posted my purse resolutions earlier in this thread, but I think I may be able to refine them even a bit more.

I am not absolutely sure yet, but I thought about 2 more bags that I think I will sell this year. I really like them both, but one is a crossbody and I have discovered I am not a crossbody person. The other is a duplicate of another bag I have, in a different color. I could buy either bag again, but it would be difficult to find the colors I have. This is why I have kept both, but since I rarely use them; what's the point?!

What is working well for me is making an actual list of what I need or want. Sometimes it is very specific, like Prada flats in a neutral color; not black. I bought natural colored, python ones. Sometimes it is more general, like big, red bag. I bought a Borough in vermillion.

If it is not on my list, I don't buy it!!! If I see something not on my list that is a "great bargain", I still try my best to pass it by, sometimes difficult, but it has helped me eliminate the impulse buys that although beautiful, often end up not being used much. The 2 bags on my "launch pad" were impulse buys.
