Oh! The Christmas Party!

I met another SA I like, she's fun to talk to.
And the manager that invited me told us that if we were ever planning to go to Paris, he could help set up going to the house/museum in Paris. Ohhh, I'd love to go to that. I love museums and I love the histories of these brands!

Only if I could go to Paris.

I typically don't drink, but I did enjoy their very light champagne and had a blast with the trays of chocolate macarons. :cheers: It wasn't as busy/crowded as the first event I went to, but I had an absolute fun time. And of course, it was followed up by finding my London twillys in Burberry and my gorgeous Herbag in Hermes.

DBF did buy his planner which is the perfect size, but I don't think I can make more use of it than the small one I have. He has both the medium and small now. He asked if I could make custom inserts for him, using the envelopes and packaging from all our favorite designer brands! Will share this craft with you all, as it's going to keep me occupied so I focus on shopping my closet. haha.

I also did buy Mom's zippy compact, which I'll reveal when she gets it for Christmas, or sooner, as I can't wait to give it to her. I am tempted to get this size for myself too, but I'll restrain. I would prefer a ZCP in emperinte, just waiting for the right shade.


So since I have my Herbag, I don't know what to get in London. I searched and searched, and I really don't want anything major. A few SLGs, those LE Longchamp totes. I might drop by Hermes to see if they'll have the tpm Evelyne, but since it's so rare, it's not really a hunt for one. Even if the bags I am trying to sell don't go, I don't mind as I can still use them. My count is at a nice, even 18.

Is this what handbag contentment is?

Time to move out of my speedy. What should I move into? My Bal city or my Burberry black leather Canterbury tote?

I'm sorta feeling the Bal so I can wear my Burberry around Christmas. Then after that, will ring in the new year with my Gucci soho hobo.

eggtart that is amazing! I was thinking about starting a thread in Wardrobe for the New Year bc my goal for 2016 is not to buy anything. Clothes included. I was supposed to start on my birthday (Sept) but then bought a Goyard St Louis when I was in SF last month & this month the "need" for a New Years dress sent me on a minor dressapalooza 🙈

Besides that, I have all my scrapbook supplies to use towards this project!

I kind of ignore trends now. I wear what works for me. If I buy a trendy bag it is usually the first bag to get sold again . Today I am wearing my LV BH which is a tote.

And, none of the mini bags in the mini bag trend cheap. Burberry's mini bag alone is near $1000. Premiere designers charge heck of a lot more. My Pochette Felicie in all it's mini bag/wallet glory is now $925. Definitely not cheap, and not for every day, depending on what one carries.

I feel like articles like these are always pushing readers to continuously buy whats on trend, and it's all in the basis of "minimalism." In one year's time, mini bags are passe and large leather totes are going to back in.

I agree! Mini bags are great but even I who needs to stay with light weight bags sometimes need to carry more stuff.

Same here. I have a range of bags for my needs. And when I switch to a small/mini bag, it's hard to determine what I need to carry at all times, and which I can shove in the pocket of my lunch bag so I can still have it with me. haha

I caught a glance of Coach's spring 2016, and some of it is super cute. I think I'd get a small bag or SLG just for cuteness, there's the embellished flower/poppy bags that I like. Chanel came out with one last season/year and it was gorgeous but of course absurdly expensive. If this is in the price range I think it is, it would be a fun summer bag that won't break my saving goal.

Also, they're coming out with dinosaur charms, and I have a mission to find one for DBF. His favorite movie is Jurassic Park. Lol. He'd love that giant charm on his LV bag.

In my obsessiveness with stylebook, I've planned my handbag rotation for 2016. Lol. With the exemption of Chanel and Hermes, all my bags will have a cpw of less than $15-20. The LC totes are less than $5 cpw.

thanks, Amor! Oddly, this year wasn't so hard as previous years. I think it's because the bags I have now really fulfill my actual needs and purposes vs, just being pretty things to look at.

I chose an easy goal so yes I did it. My goal was not to exceed the space allotted for my bags and no squeezing bags together. I should have made a harder goal. This time I actually wrote down each month ins and outs so I can see all the crazy decisions. As much as I hate to admit it serious sales still affect me. This months bags that are coming in I have been eyeing for months but did not want to pay full price but then when they weren't full price I jumped. When I think of all the bags I bought this year I could have bought more then one premier bag. With the exception of the one I will get at christmas I can say I used all my bags this year.

I think the space goal is a great way to gage something. I look in my closet and A LOT of the space is taken up by bags and I'd love to lighten the load up and free up some more closet space so that I have only one dedicated closet for all my clothing and accessories - definitely a long term goal

Congrats on achieving your goal! I went over mine a bit. I wanted to limit my bag buy to only 2, but I bought 3. I did get rid of some though, but still have at least 3 on the chopping block waiting for some adoption. I didn't keep track of how many I let go, but I'm sure it's more than 8 since I remember after the exercise was done, there was a month that I was able to push 8 bags out the door. I think I'm doing ok this year. I think I did more than I imagine I could. And I even break out some bags I rarely wear and maybe won't wear if I acted the way I used to be. But I finally did it and I'm so happy. Thanks to everyone here that've been such a great cheerleader and offer good ideas.

This year has been great to me. Although, I went over board on the 2-bags-a-year goal, (I got 3.) the third purchase which is a black mini bag is so worth it. I use it more often than my previous mini bags that I bought and I love every minute of those.
To look back, this year is the best in term of bag buying for me since I'm here. I got a bag that I thought got away from me years ago. I got a black bag in the style that I love, in a material that's new to me and open my eye to the new level, and a mini bag that inspire me to cut down stuff I carry even more. I think now my shoulders love me. Not to mention I got rid of more bags I thought I could ever do.
Thanks to you all for being an inspiration on changing bags and rotating them, I discover a new love to my existing bag and find myself very happy for that.
Joining this thread is the best thing I did on TPF and you all make it even better so. Thanks for being such an inspiration for me this year.

thanks, vink! I think you did really well! it took my YEARS to get to this point and last year I thought it was going to happen but halfway through the year, I bought 11 bags lol. I think even if you went over your goal, the addition seems like it was a great purchase for you and it's awesome it works so well!

As far as my goal, I did rotate more frequently, I lowered to cost per wear of many things.
I did not go a full quarter without shopping, but I have gone at least 3 months without an addition. It just wasn't consecutive.
I also didn't just buy one bag. Oops. Also didn't use all my bag charms/keychains/twillys.

Hoping December stays a 0 in (mostly because I only count SLGs/Handbags haha).

Awesome on the no purchase months! Oh I think i forgot to mention that I was going to try to use all my wallets throughout the year - that was a fail because my husband has been away and I have been heavily using the wallet he gave me because I miss him, and before he left again, he bought me a new one to replace the other one he got 'cuz it was getting old, so I've used the new one for quite some time before rotating. I think I have 3-4 wallets I still need to use.

The wedding is done and I'm so happy. It went beautifully and wow! I never think I'd be stressed over it until it's passed and I feel like my need to buy subside. I did go shopping today and blew off some steam with clothes shopping though. Nothing fancy. Just t-shirts and thin sweaters. We're far too hot to wear sweater and outer wear, but I just love them. And I wear them often, too.

I'm still with Miss Dior and the longer I use it, the more I fall in love with. I think the way I only carry a few fits the bag nicely. The only regret I have is that I won't be able to carry a book in my bag, just in case. Other than that, it's more than fine.

So I went to the Christmas party at LV, bought my Mom her Christmas present (zippy compact NM) and DBF bought his planner. I was good and refrained.

So we decided to wander around the mall, I bought my Burberry London twillys.

DBF suggested checking out Hermes to see if they had the rose gold bracelet I was eyeing.

I walked past this bag, but when I stopped to eye a beautiful Kelly wallet, I looked up and there she was.

After trying it on, I said "I'll take it."

The SA replied "there's a brand new one in the back. I'll wrap it up for you. Would you like a twilly to go with it?"

Plus the box is huge, I would've had severe trouble packing it.

The color difference makes one casual and the other a bit dressier. The black one has the most beautiful red lining.
