Welcome! I was a late joiner too but everyone was so kind and helpful that I felt @ home almost from the start. Looking forward to see some eye candy from your collection[emoji4]

What projects if you don't mind me asking? If it's home improvements, am very interested.
I am excited too, but not sure if the courier company delivers on Saturday and their tracking site sucks[emoji19]

Diverse options, is the bag meant for a specific function ie travel, daily errand etc.? The Cuyana tote is simply classic[emoji5]️

Thanks egg!! Results will trickle in throughout next week, praying for an excellent outcome.

Aren't Bayswater bags just gorgeous??

No specific function but I feel that my collection needs plain black top zip bag. I think it will Cuyana tough. All their bags are pretty but I am trying to avoid open top totes. So, when they came out with zipped version, it went straight to my wish list.

There's a zippered top version?? Sounds perfect! Any pics?

I'm working on cleaning my room and helping clear the garage lol. I also have a picture I want to hang up.

Hope you get on excellently and clear off everything. Garages are the worst or maybe next to attics?

When I took breaks from revising with my son, I continued with the closet project.
I can happily report that I am 80% happy with what I have. Now on a mission to complete it but not in a hurry. Have learnt to be more patient and wait for the perfect piece.
In fact today I am picking up a scarf that is a perfect shade of purple that matches/complements three tops and one dress!
I am planning to get two just in case I won't find another one in the exact color. At USD7 each, I think it's definitely worth it.

There were few pics in Cuyana thread but also at their webpage: http://www.cuyana.com/view-all

The black one looks gorgeous! If you get it, modelling pics pretty please[emoji120]🏻

Just realised while replying to bake that the most valuable/significant behavior change I noticed since participating in this thread, is that I am definitely more patient.
So patient that the item that I am waiting for today, has been a 3 months journey.
The item has been on my wish list for 2 years and I decided it is definitely needed after the baby was born so it got bumped up the wish list.
To get a barely used one at a bargain is a tall order though. I gave myself 2 months to search for the perfect one and if none surfaced, I will have to pony up more cash.
Found several in as-new condition but with price tags to match and almost gave up until I found 'the one'[emoji173]️
Started a discussion with the seller and lucky for me, she's a really sweet young woman who likes to buy but never have time to use due to her job demands.
It is due to her job that we had problems closing the deal. She was constantly outstation (overseas) and only stopped by home for a few days before jetting off somewhere else.
There's been a couple of times that I vented in this thread about the problem of purchasing this particular item.
I even thought it wasn't meant to be. There were other exact items at higher prices that I could've bought months ago.
Something tells me to wait and in the end, I think it's worth it.
My only worry is that I've built up the item in my mind that I might be disappointed when I receive it. Hoping the wait is worth it.

What significant change in your behavior towards bags that you've noticed since joining the thread?

Garages become a black hole of stuff. I'm trying to get more stuff donated or tossed, and I'd like to do this before the rain comes.

Great job! You've made great progress! It really is good to wait for the right item.

Hope the wait is worth it for you. .

This thread has helped me figure out what I want. I've coveted certain things and shared them here, and it's helped that when I stray from the dream bag, someone reminds me that I have a dream bag that I want more than the deal of the day.

I also know I have enough and that I should just enjoy what I have. :) But I shouldn't be focused on maintaining or obtaining a certain number. I should be happy with what I buy, keep, and sell at all times.

Lou- Why the MK tote?

paculina- GL with the interview and Bays in on my wishlist. Black glossy goat with nickel hardware, heart stoppingly stunning[emoji173]️

katie- How's your bag sale going?

I just don't use it enough. Somewhere this summer I realized I have it all, bag wise and just don't use this one. I feel bad it sits unused. It was a gift though so who knows. I do like having a small tote.

Hello! I'm late to the party, but I'd love to join this "shopping from my own collection" resolution. Moving apartments made me realize that I need to downsize my collection. Now I'm on a strict, no-bags diet (at least until the end of the year)!

Today, I took my long-neglected Coach Kristin crossbody out for a stroll. I bought mine back in 2012, and it still looks brand new!

Welcome to the group!!

Hey guys, here's a question for you -- this year I am really loving the look of the single top-handle bag, especially the Celine trapeze bag. I don't want to spend that much money on it because I KNOW that the style is not practical for my daily life and needs, but I really love it. I was thinking of buying a similar/inspired bag but have gotten to a point where (1) I don't want to spend even a few hundred dollars for a similar style from a contemporary brand, but also (2) I don't to waste money on a poorly made bag just for the style, no matter how inexpensive (mostly because the less expensive you get, you can really start to tell the difference) because I have a very low threshold as to how much (or little) I want to pay... I also know I would ideally love to have it in a calf hair... should I just take the plunge and purchase something in the $100 range and just get over my pining for it? or just forget about it all together?

I don't think that you're going to be happy with an inexpensive inspired/similar bag. I don't think close is going to count in this case. I'm guessing what makes the Trapeze impractical for you is the size? And if you want calf hair, the requisite babying?

If it were me, because I can only tell you what I would do, I would think about ways to work it into my life. Can you take it out on date night? Or create a date night to have an excuse to take it out? lol. Take it out for a night with your girlfriends? Can you take it along with another tote/diaper bag/whatever that will meet the rest of your needs? Use it for work? I would think about those kinds of things first, and then I would buy it on the pre-loved market and look for a good deal.

Another idea I had, but this is probably also more than you want to spend, is to try it out for a month by borrowing it from Bag, Borrow or Steal. That's not exactly cheap either though. That would be a significant chunk of the cost of owning a pre-loved bag. But it might be enough to get wanting one out of your system.

Thanks for your thoughts! The impracticality for me is actually the flap opening, and I didn't even think about your point about the calf-hair (I just think it looks really nice) but you're COMPLETELY right about the babying. Thanks for pointing that out! The flap part bothers me because I am in and out of my bag a lot so totes and satchels work the best. I have one top-handle tote with a flap opening which I love and do use, and that has been holding me off from buying any more because I'm aware it's not a good style for me, but ... this bag.. really attracting me.. .And you're right, I don't want to pay to borrow it.... and I think I've been so focused on my staple and practical bags, that I'm missing a bit of oomph, which the trapeze seems to ooze, for me.

So it doesn't have the same level of practicality as your other bags, but it's meeting a different need in your collection. That's just as fair and just as valid as your practical bags. Although, again, I would opt for the pre-loved route on this one. And maybe reconsider on the calf-hair. I don't really like bags that I have to baby too much.

I have learned a lot from this thread. I have found that a bag does not need to cost a fortune to be well made. There were so many beauties on here that were reasonably priced it did back fire a bit for a while as I bought more reasonably priced bags. Through all the exercises though I have learned what really works for me and what doesn't. I have less bags since I joined this thread but the ones I have work so much better for me. My bags are also more organized and easy to access ,so it much easier to rotate them. I am still handbag obsessed but in a controlled manner.
