I was able to try the medium on today in tweed and it was really lovely. I agree the large black leather isn’t my cup of tea but I actually love this bag in the tweed. Hoping for the beige version in either this size or one size down

Yep, the price point was the most shocking of it all for this puddled mess. Better to stick with tried and true
classic, Le Boy, Coco, etc. ladies.
Thanks for posting mod shots! Finally! May I ask how tall you are? I’m also waiting for a small tweed. I don’t think anyone in the US ordered it unfortunately. I think just the medium..

Excuse poor photo quality and dirty mirrors please but I ultimately took home the small size today ($4,100 in tweed). Here is that bag along with a side by side comparison with the medium ($4,400 in tweed). I also confirmed that the small size only comes in the white tweed, but the medium and large come in both the ivory and beige tweed variations - at least in the US! I went through the book myself today and that is the scoop on tweed colors for us here - hope that helps!

I wonder, though, back to when the Gabrielle was released. It was not a style we had seen anywhere before and was not welcomed with opened arms by the Chanel community. It took a few years and some hand-on use before it grew to icon status. I feel like this bag needs some time before it is declared a fail. And, as this was Karl's last design, I think it may prove to be quite great!
I actually tried it on today in the medium and thought it was fabulous. I loved the mixed metals and the fact I could wear it on my shoulder, cross body or hand carry. I also didn’t find it too heavy. My jumbo is way heavier. I think I purse organizer will help th4 bag keep its shape. Can’t wait to add it to my collection.
Yes, I agree with you both! I was finally able to see the bag and chose the smaller (mostly for the slightly shorter chain length, the lower price point, and the fact that it fit SO much). But, I think I may want to add a medium as well in the future! The leather is soft and gorgeous, but also feels sturdy and not delicate like lamb. The bag isn't heavy and the top chain handle is so clever and makes the bag so easy to use. I also love the large back pocket that can be used for your cell phone (unlike the Mona Lisa pocket on the classics). I don't think a bag shaper would work in the small (it would eat up too much space) but def in the larger sizes. I also saw the beige tweed in the large - really gorgeous but too delicate for my lifestyle.
Definitely give it a chance! While it won't be for everyone (nothing is!) this one needs to be seen irl before you decide! (My SA told me that the prices for the 19 will start going up - even though it started high! - as they did with the Gabrielle once it was launched.)

Congrats on your purchase! I’m sure you’ll get lots of use out of this bag. I can’t wait to take it out again today. The turquoise one is beyond gorgeous. I can’t remember if it came in the small size. On the website it’s shown in larger size which for my body frame would be too big. If it did come in small I’d snatch that one up too. I usually gravitate towards black or darker color bags but that bright turquoise is so fun! My SA mentioned that it will also come in beige, grey, and a red I think. Hopefully in smaller size. I agree with you that it isn’t for everyone but we should all be respectful of other’s likes/loves. Life would be boring if we all liked the same exact things
Thank you! I would love to see the turquoise irl - I saw the beige tweed, the white, and the coral in store on Friday. I imagine they will offer her in many colours over the coming years (navy would be great). I saw her in the Resort runway show in an amazing Tiffany blue. Looked fab with the gold hardware.
My SA texted me today to let me know that I was lucky to snag my 19 bag a few weeks ago. They’re having a hard time keeping stock in store since people are going crazy for them lol. Hope you’re still enjoying yours.
Really? That's nice to hear! I can't get a sense of their popularity yet, but it seemed to me that people were very slow to warm to them. I think maybe once people see them irl and feel the gorgeous leather they are sold!
