Hmm hmm really! I don’t have 19s so I still don’t know. I was always looking for goatskin but now that you said that, maybe it is okay for me to buy 19 in lamb afterall. :amuse:

Yes, I wanted goatskin too, because I thought it was more robust, but now I‘m so glad I got lambskin. If you go to fashionphile you will see that the goatskin bags are quite wrinkled:
The lambskin ones all look good except one, but that one is from 2020 and I think it might actually be goatskin too.
Also, there is a lady on youtube who compares the two leathers:

Have this bag in goatskin (as of January 2020) and it looks brand new. I don't think we can make generalizations about how these leathers "age". The way we care for, fill, and store our bags will affect how they look. My SA, a longtime employee of Chanel, told me that she often can't tell just by looking at the 19 if it is goatskin or lambskin. This is meant to be a relaxed-looking bag. Perhaps the goatskin vs lambskin conversation is elevated beyond a reasonable point?

ocMomof3 I agree - The ones that look worse on reseller sites could have been stored wrong, over packed with too many things, etc - I have a black lambskin 19 since June but have not worn much as we don’t go out much due to co-vid still going around. My SA sent it to be as he thought it was goatskin, It looks and feels beautiful and when I did wear it I went in and out of the back pocket to get my phone and no scratches at all from my nails. I was one who always said I wanted a goatskin but most were so wrinkled. But I just bought a beige goatskin 20A from Fashionphile it has no winkles at all - very well cared for. My BO3386 # -Is this the same as yours - for goatskin - Just to let others know that Fashionphile is listing Chanel 19’s from 2021 as goatskin (no authenticity card) and showing pictures of the metal chip plate behind the lock which started about April last year so they must be Lambskin.

I agree that you cannot generalize that goat skin doesn't age well. I’ve had my goatskin small black since Oct 2020 and worn it a handful of times only, due to the pandemic, but it looks no different than the day I got it. I use a base shaper and bag organizer since day 1 to retainer its shape. To me, the 19 looks better in goat skin. Lambskin looks too smooth and I dont think it was supposed to be a smooth structured bag to begin with. If I want a structured bag, I carry my Classic Flap. I think those listed on the second hand market and look beaten up, the original owners probably didn’t take much care of their bag to start with. Even a CF would look bad if you “mistreat” it. Lol

Guys.. I was supposed to be in purse peace until this happened

A short background story: I already have 3 19 flaps (20B medium black, 20B white small and 20K medium beige) all in goatskin (I prefer the 19 in goatskin). I’ve always had the feeling that I need another small and I also always felt that I needed another beige shade, don’t get me wrong, I love the 20K beige but I still needed a more neutral beige that goes with more outfits.

I texted my SA with the codes for 20A and 20B beige knowing for sure the answer is none but surprisingly he had the 20B!!! Which serves my purpose even more than the 20A!

A hidden gem that I could not resist!!!

Some comparisons:

21K on the left, beige clair in the middle and 20B on the right.

Interestingly, the 21K is the exact same color code of the 20A beige. 21K is lambskin while 20A is goatskin. 20B is goatskin as well.

By the way, these photos show the difference between the 2 leathers clearly, the goatskin is usually more wrinkly
