I remember your old thread because E/W marquise are one of my FAV rings!! Here's the link, which includes a TON of pictures of E/W marquise designs.

^it's a brilliant idea!!! I absolutely LOVE marquis in an E/W setting! the RG will be gorgeous too. you'll have a very unique ring.I could have sworn that I started a thread many months ago about this, but I could not find it anywhere! I apologize if I did and have now started another!! OK....my anniversary is in a few months and I have wanted to simplify my wedding ring for many years. I think I finally have my husband on board, but I really wanted to come here and get some opinions of what I am thinking! I currently have a marquise ring (pictured below) set on a wide band of baguettes. I would like to flip it east/west (as in pic. #2) and have it set in rose gold with a more "artistic" feeling to the gold (pic. #3). I do not want to have the diamonds on the side....so I am really simplifying, but my solitaire is beautiful and I would like it to be the centerpiece. I have 4 eternity bands (2 rose gold, 2 yellow), so I would plan on stacking sometimes. What do you think?? Suggestions?? Comments?? Thanks so much for any feedback! I am a bit nervous!
^it's a great size. I can't wait to see it finished. Thanks ladies...and hokaplan...not at all! The marquise is app. 2.25 carats. And i like that is iot very proportionate (not too skinny). I think it would look ok flipped east/west.
^sounds pretty reasonable in price. is it a ready-made setting or custom?Oh...there will be no bezel at all. It will be exactly as the pic in #2, just in rose gold, and the rose gold will be like the setting in #3. The jeweler I am speaking too was confused about that as well....I was only using pic #3 as a reference for how I would like to gold t look!! Sorry for the confusion!! I am being quoted about $800. DOes that sound reasonable???
Ame...I adore rose gold and always have! I like it best when the color is similar to my pic #3. I think as the content gets higher (18k) it gets a bit more orange. I like a very gentle rose color.![]()
^that's called a "bridge" setting. I like it. it should keep your stone secure in the setting and on your finger.OKey doke....I found this ring and I think this setting design is it!!! Of course in hammered rose gold. What do you ladies think. For comparison, this is a 1 carat round stone. Mine is a little over 2 carats marquise (set east/west)!! Thanks so much for all of your help and opinions!
I know the pic is crappy....I took it off my computer screen, as he original was taken with my cell phone. The bezel is very small and you can see the stone suspended underneath.
Opinions??
OOOhhhhh.....thank you everyone for your replies!!!! I am making an appointment with the jeweler for this weekend (I hope!). My husband finally agreed...although it took some wrangling, and I had to give his Mom a handbag!!! I have (had) a gorgeous small python bag that I bought for @$30 at a secondhand store. We went out Saturday night and his Mom saw the bag and raved about it later on to him. Her asked if I would give it to her (which I would have done with no problem), but when he said,"My Mom really wants that handbag", I said,"I know the feeling...I would really like my ring reset!". So he told me if I would give her the bag...I could get the ring reset done! DEAL! His Mom is living with us right now (she has been going through treatment for colon cancer), and It made her SO HAPPY to have that bag! Anyway...I was a bit pissed for a few minutes that one had to relate to the other....but in the end everyone gets what they want, so I didn't complain!!
Thanks for all of your comments! I will definitely be posting pics of the final ring.
F&F....it is definitely going to be a custom setting. Also, thank you for the official name. I am off to google pics!

BRILLIANT negotiating...bravo!you didn't really give up anything since you would have given her the bag anyway!
I know you want a simple setting, but I just have to say one teeny tiny little thing or I couldn't live with myself. what if you had small round diamonds set on the bridge underneath your marquis? they would be your secret, & I just love that. since you wouldn't be able to see them right away when looking at your ring, it would still be a simple setting. maybe 1 diamond for each year of marriage? just a thought...
