I also do not like that they did not disclose that this is a non-standard bolide, nor are more pictures available. :nono:

Completely agree, Cobalt. I tried to get more pictures from them once, and they said they couldn't do it. They'd listed the color of the purse I was interested in wrong. I thought not being able to do more pictures was odd.

Hi,
can one of the lovely ladies have a look at this .:D

thank you very much for authenticating

listing number:

I'm not liking the cracked resin all over the bag. Would pass on this one.

I'm probably crazy to be looking at this, but I'd love an opinion (or twenty):

Item: Hermes Raisin Chevre Mysore Bolide 31
Listing Number: Portero SKU 11517-1
Seller: Portero.com
Link: http://portero.com/hermes-raisin-chevre-mysore-leather-shooting-star-31cm-bolide-bag.html
Comments: This is a shooting star bag (I know, I know :p). I emailed them for pictures of the lock, the blindstamp, and the other side of the bag, and was told that other pictures are not available. I was told that the date stamp is F for 2002. Also, when I did a search on the forums, the only hit I got for this bag was an eBay listing in the "Finds" thread from March of this year.
Questions: Am I an idiot to want a shooting star bag, even if it is a delicious color goat? Am I to assume this is a consignment bag not in their possession? The price is good, so is there the possibility that the bag is not authentic, or is it merely so reasonable because of the craftsman stamp?

Many thanks for any and all opinions rendered. TIA.

:tpfrox:

I agree with all the other comments. This is authentic, but customized. The handles are definitely shorter than those on a standard 31 Bolide. It is like a deconstructed hybrid of the Bolide and Web designs. It's a great color in this leather, simple, which may appeal to some, but the lack of disclosure that this is not a standard style is not cool. Would want to see a photo of the other side of the bag.

It doesn't look like a Bolide or Web to me. I have both, and neither are like this one. Like Grace, I can only assume it was it was customized by the craftsperson. I've sure never seen anything like it.

It looks like a naked Web. KWIM? The handles are too short to be a Bolide.

really quite strange, not a web, bolide, or even an older bugatti, seems a bit like a sac heboo but even then there are material differences...

Strange bag. I am not able to get the pictures to enlarge this evening...
The other thing is this is lined with chevre, not agneau. that may account for the wrinkling, or perhaps will make the bag heavier.

The lack of feet, shoulder strap, lock, clochette are all real minuses for me. I think the price could be lower. IMHO. I feel that the bolide feet are not only functional, but charming too.

I am not jazzed about this bag, unfortunately. I love the color, but it seems to be a unique little bag that is missing some key elements.

sad to say.

This is pretty much how I feel, CobaltBlu. I love the color and the leather (and the price), but am sure that I would miss having all the details that make a Bolide a Bolide. And the fact that it has no feet and would likely get a bit of regular use from me makes me balk. And then there is that whole aspect of service/no service at the H spa...

Many thanks to gracekelly, Cavalier Girl, CobaltBlu, Pepper, and tibaka for their input. I think this one is a pass.

Comments: Any thoughts on whether this may be Barenia? The Hermes stamp looks like it could be natural or the color might have worn off. The seller stated that the bag"resembles box calf".

TIA Ladies!

It's not barenia. I think this bag has been discussed before here (not sure), if you do a search you might find more. It may be chamonix.

This sort of appeals to me. An orphan Bolide with all sorts of beautiful imperfections. A Bolide only a mother could love. A homeless treasure. I may see if I have any Portero percentage discount coupons sitting around and give this little Bolide a home.
One thing we are sure of, it is AUTH Hermes, right? Just a sort of hybrid, or as we say in Aviation, "a Home-Built".

Yes, TT, please give this beautiful bag a home! If I hadn't lost my money tree farm in the floods of '09, I'd do it :p It's everything I want - Bolide, Purple, Unusual, everything but 95% off!

Have at it, TankerToad! I am giving this one a pass. I think my first Bolide should have all the attributes of the original bag design. :smile1:

Understand. I think the missing feet and the wrinkling are my biggest issues. I don't mind the customization of the design, but I have several Bolides so this would not be my first. So I think Cakey is right that her first Bolide should be a true style and not a hybrid. I do love the raisin chev. It is one of my DH's fav bags. He likes the color and the design.

TT, those Home-Built plans can be pretty scary! John Denver, crash, burn and die!
