I’m not sure if this is the best place for this post but I wanted to tell people who would understand- in a few days I’m opening the gift I bought myself, this Valentino bag! I’m so excited!

I prefer more subtle luxury so I’m hoping this bag will fly under the radar for most onlookers in my real life. I’m so excited for it and have always loved Valentino!

just sharing

congrats...it's lovely but I don't think it's gonna fly under the radar
people may not know the designer but those colors will be noticed
Haha aww that is so sweet of you! You are right- it will definitely be noticed! I am ok with that. I live in a small town and Chanel level recognizability would feel weird for me, so I’m hoping not many will recognize this bag as designer. But if they appreciate the style, that’s ok!

Darn, I just spotted this blue plastic on the hardware. Does this mean my bag is a fake?

blue plastic covering the hw was on my bag when it arrived from dept store.
Oh you are so kind to take the time to reply! I feel much better now. I’m happy with the bag either way (love the style and the feel of the leather!) but this is comforting nonetheless.
How did you get it off? I’m scared of scratching the hardware.

It should peel off easily, but ive left it on since receiving it for the same reason of protecting from scratches. It's not the best idea bc the glue on the plastic may eventually turn and either become harder to remove or maybe even cause a chemical reaction? Rust may be the least damaging reaction, but who knows. Either way, I should remove it sooner than later.

You can try using a tweezer to remove it since it looks like its stuck in the crevice. Or else, leave be bc yours is a tiny piece, unless it really bothers you.

I've read over on the Hermes forum that this has even occurred with the transparent protective plastic on the hardware of Birkins and Kellys so it's probably better to remove any kind of plastic covering from the hardware of designer bags.
