eBay shipping seems to be all over the place. I haven’t bought or sold on eBay for over 10 years, but do sellers jack up the shipping cost to recoup some profit and keep the item cost lower to pay less fees? I get turned off by high shipping fees but maybe that’s the game

Some definitely do that. You can usually tell if the shipping looks just way too high. Unless a bag fits in one of the USPS flat rate boxes the cost to send can actually get higher than expected too though.
