love the pop haut, but yeh i think speedy for your first bag! I have the damier 25 and I love mine to bits! If your worried about the mono then why not get the ebene damier rather than the azur?

I'd get the speedy in whichever print grabs you and a small accessory like a cles!
Don't worry about what other people are carrying or thinking, you know yours is real and that's all that matters!

I love the Damier Speedy 30 and 25, the Axur Speedy 25, The Regular Popincourt, and the BH

Get a speedy (Damier, Mono or Azur), and if you can spare an extra $30-45, get a cles as an accessory!

Definitely get a Speedy -- the bag is so amazing (I just love my 25). Mono or Azur -- well, I don't care for Azur (plus it is hard to find right now, I think), so I would say go for Mono. But if you don't want to do Mono because of the fake issue, then get Damier ebene -- also great!
