Dior's newest watch, the Dior VIII Montaigne, reintroduces the Dior VIII in stainless steel. Unfortunately, it looks like they are no longer using Charlize Theron to front the ads for the Dior VIII (at least not for this version).

30 Avenue Montaigne is the address of Parisian elegance par excellence. It's the location of an ideally proportioned and subtly refined mansion, situated in the heart of the 8th arrondissement, this famed quarter of luxury and palatial hotels, which draws elegant women from all over the world. This now-legendary address captured Christian Dior's imagination long before he became a couturier."I will set up here and nowhere else!" he informed one of his friends. And this wish was finally realized on 8 October 1946 when he opened his couture house. At 30 Avenue Montaigne, Christian Dior created a muted and luxurious world, decorated in nuances of gray in the 18th century French style.
Now the house pays homage to its historic address with Dior VIII Montaigne, a timepiece creation with an utterly Parisian couture spirit, that comes in Christian Dior's favorite colors - steel that allows for a spectrum of shades of gray, "the most elegant of neutral colors" , and pink, "the softest of colors" , being the color of the flowers that he so adored to grow. A resolutely feminine variation on the house's iconic women's watch, Dior VIII Montaigne displays sensual and soft lines, with a refined case and, on the bracelet, pyramids with smoothed edges.

From version to version, it employs a wardrobe composed of timeless and couture pieces, conceived for all hours. There's the indispensable version to accompany an active woman from morning to night, all in steel and with white mother-of-pearl dial, or its two-tone version. Or it's a day watch, with its black alligator strap. Or, lastly, an evening watch, a jewel to light up party nights, in its Grand Bal version in which the rotor, placed in front of the dial, is a skirt of tinted mother-of-pearl in the style of a sunray-pleated dress, swishing to the rhythm of the dance.

What do you guys think?

The DiorMag article on the Dior VIII Montaigne:

http://www.dior.com/magazine/int_en/News/Telling-A-New-Time

They're called Dior VIII Grand Bal, Chiffre Rouge, Dior Grand Soir, D de Dior and the Mini D de Dior... From year to year, collection to collection, the iconic Dior timepieces are reinvented to the rhythm of the house's creativity. Though they correspond to the spirit of the time, they always remain faithful to the spirit of Dior, to its unique sense of line and color, of couture elegance and bold creativity. Now, once again, they can boast new finery, new lines, and new materials.

Thus, the Dior VIII Grand Bal watch boasts a couture skirt in silk lace on its visible frontal rotor, where a green silk thread is woven in a delicate skirt hemmed with diamonds, twirling over a black ceramic dial sprinkled with diamonds just like, on the evening of a elegant ball, the colorful dresses that twirl beneath the starry sky.

The men's collection Chiffre Rouge has added a new complications model, Chiffre Rouge C03, offered in a limited edition of one hundred pieces, and which combines a movement for the phases of the moon, big date and little second in a gray metallic mother-of-pearl dial accented with rose gold. With its masculine proportions and its sporty perforated leather strap, this new timepiece is totally in sync with the Dior Homme style, elegant but daring.

The D de Dior, a feminine and timeless watch, also expresses a new style and is set off by a gilded alligator strap, a rare and precious skin that echoes in the scales that cover the dial, embellished with a delicate gold bezel set with diamonds. The Mini D de Dior is reinvented, too. While the elegant lines of this great classic remain the same, its mirrored strap in metallic leather is set off with precious twinkles in the three colors of gold - yellow, rose and white - contrasting with the sobriety of the black mother-of-pearl dial.

Lastly, at Basel, the house is showing its unique watch pieces, jewelry masterpieces in a totally couture spirit. Taking inspiration from Christian Dior's passion for flowers, Dior VIII Grand Bal looks to the allure of the winter garden: delicately openworked, decorated with mother-of-pearl, opals and precious stones following an exceptional level of jeweler savoir-faire, the ball gown suggested by its visible rotor becomes a floral dress composed of delicate and colorful petals, as though frozen by frost on an immaculate dial of diamond pavé in a snow setting. As for the Dior Grand Soir collection, it's been enriched with new, unique pieces decked out with colorful precious gems, paying homage to the palette of Christian Dior the couturier, and revealing a rotor openworked with a level of detail and exceptionalism that could only be Dior.

I loved the watch VIII the first minute i saw it. But these are different a bit more sensual i think. Do you have any information about the prices?

No information yet, but I assume that the models without any rose gold will cost less than the Dior VIII (because they are stainless steel, not ceramic. Ceramic tends to enable companies to set a higher price point). The models with rose gold hands and indexes will cost the same as comparable Dior VIII models or more.

This year, the Dior Grand Soir is inspired by Origami, and the precious stones feature cushion cuts that add a new dimension of sparkle to the watches. All pieces are one-of-a-kind and take extraordinary amounts of time to complete (even the dial is made from over 50 pieces of mother-of-pearl).

The Dior VIII Grand Bal models feature intricate open-worked oscillating weights that mimic nature (which M. Dior was so fond of):

More versions of the Dior VIII Montaigne. While I like the combination of materials and thinner bezel, the one with the crocodile strap looks a bit boring. It does not have the pyramids that are characteristic to the Dior VIII. I would choose the La D de Dior over this watch.

More styles from Dior at Baselworld, including a divine La D de Dior in golden crocodile, all the way down to the dial. The new Dior VIII Grand Bals are equally impressive; they look like works of nature!

Dior's latest Dior VIII Grand Bal watch is called Fil de Soie, and it has an oscillating weight interlaced with fine silk threads, and a glossy patent leather strap that pairs perfectly with ceramic.

As well, the new Dior VIII Montaigne comes with strap with a row of rose-gold links in the middle (very classy and pretty!).
