For those of you w/ a Carryall PM or MM

For those of you who have had the new carryall bag for awhile now, I'm curious how the leather has softened, especially the ties.

When I saw it in store I didn't love it (even though I wanted to). Today I was watching a youtube video and it was shown with another bag as a what fits comparison and the carryall had softened up quite and had a little slouch to it and I loved the way it looked.

I'd love to see some updated pictures of your carryalls now that you've hopefully been carrying them for awhile and also hear what you think of it. Any regrets? Do you recommend it?

Thanks!

Does pre-loved popular styles worth that additional $600-900?

I’ve found one pearl crush mini on Fashionphile that I thought nobody would ever sell after purchasing it due to the unique color (and just because it’s a pearl crush mini lol).

Unfortunately with the way it is nowadays, this bag is listed for $600 over current retail price and $900 over when the bag was first launched. It’s categorized in “excellent condition” with only descriptions for inner indentation but nothing wrong on the outside (although I can see maybe a few unnoticeable dirty spots on the product photos). That means it’s definitely pre-loved…

I’m trying to stay positive for upcoming new seasons and my thin connection with SAs for the no.1 most wanted bag on my list, but I often think about this pre-loved bag as my fallback…

Would you keep waiting till you get your no.1 new and unused? Or am I crazy thinking I’ll just buy this pre-loved bag before it’s really gone forever?

Sensitive Ears

Anyone else here with sensitive ears? My right lobe (it's always the right one) closed up again and I had to go get it re-pierced.

I'm looking to replace my collection with only earrings that are hypoallergenic because I'm tired of this sort of thing happening. Maybe I'll try out the huggies and charms trend, so that I can be sure I have one or two pairs of things my ears can handle, but still get to wear lots of different designs.

For those of you with sensitive ears, what do you wear?

Calling all young LV lovers! Suggestions for presents from aunt to nieces

What to get as a present for nieces?

  • Get something new from LV

  • Get a preloved LV from their birthyear

  • Change your ideas and get something from another brand

My 2 eldest nieces (24 and 22 y.o) got their degree from Uni (one last year, one this Summer) and I have yet to get a present for them.
They are sisters and when they turned 18 I got them a little something from LV, so I know they like the brand.
I was wondering if I should get a SLG from LV, or eventually search for a used bag done in their exact month and year of births instead. I don’t have unlimited funds but I’ve seen something around 300 € available for sale.
Since I’m now an old auntie, I’m asking the young girls in the forum what their preference would be.
Happy to hear suggestions to eventually switch to another brand!

Please help me find my holy grail everyday hobo bag

I recently saw someone carrying my holy grail everyday bag, I didn’t approach her at the time and I’ve kicked myself literally every day since.

It’s a hobo with about a 9 inch strap drop. It’s basically the pictured bag, except magnetic closure instead of zip, and preferably less extreme (or non-existent) piping since it is subject to wear.

The important thing is the pockets on the sides that fit any iPhone, and (slightly less important) this one has metal feet. The one pictured was built on the 1 Atelier website. I’m looking for it in black or (almost) any shade of brown.

I greatly appreciate any help anyone could provide!

Help me decide Carryall, Neverfull PM, or Graceful PM

My birthday is coming up next month and I want to treat myself. I also want to purchase before the price increase. My problem is I'm torn between the Neverfull, Graceful, and the Carryall. I love hobo bags, and I'm partial to the Carryall, but I worry about the tie closures becoming worn with usage. I love the Neverfull, if only it had a closure that made me feel secure. As for the Graceful, I wish it had the drop of the Carryall. At this point, I'm leaning towards the Neverfull if I can find an organizer that zips to protect my belongings. Any advice??

Prince Edward And Sophie, Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh

Countess Sophie of Wessex is poised to become an even more prominent Senior Royal.
She does pop up from time to time in the Royalty Fashion Thread, but I thought in the future there will be more to say about her and Prince Edward.

Here is an article from The Times archive to kick us off.

As the Queen’s children and grandsons rushed to Balmoral on Thursday through driving rain to say their last farewells, among them were only two spouses.
One was Camilla, now the Queen Consort. The other, her face stricken, was Sophie, the Countess of Wessex.
In recent years, Prince Edward’s wife formed such a bond with the monarch that she was widely known as “the Queen’s favourite”. When visiting Balmoral or Sandringham, she was often spotted in the coveted spot in the back seat of the Rolls-Royce with the Queen on Sunday morning rides to church, and Buckingham Palace posted a rare birthday tweet on her 57th birthday in January.

The fondness was mutual — in a speech in October 2019 the countess referred to the Queen affectionately as “mama”.

I spent a few days with Sophie in South Sudan two years ago, just before the pandemic stopped travel, as she visited the war-torn country as part of her work campaigning against sexual violence in conflict. We’d had a tough day visiting survivors of harrowing attacks in a hot, smelly and overcrowded camp but her face lit up when I asked her about the Queen and if it was true that they had a particularly close relationship.
“I think so,” she smiled. “I hope so.”
The Queen always wanted to hear about her trips on her return, she said. “She is so interested, particularly in Commonwealth countries. I don’t know how many countries she has visited. Every time I come back from a place she has been there and knows so much.”

The pair bonded over their interest in military history, apparently spending hours poring over ancient documents in the Royal Archives at Windsor Castle.
What was also clear was their shared sense of dedication and duty. In recent years as an increasingly frail Queen pared down her schedule, Prince Andrew was cast out in disgrace and Prince Harry left with Meghan for California, Sophie emerged as one of Buckingham Palace’s safest pairs of hands. Some courtiers refer to her as “the royals’ secret weapon”.
Last year Sophie was the first member of the royal family to speak publicly about the Duke of Edinburgh’s death, which experts interpreted as an indication of the trust placed in her by the Queen.

The mutual warmth of their relationship was helped by proximity. She and Prince Edward live just over ten miles away from Windsor Castle at Bagshot Park, the country estate built for Queen Victoria’s third son Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn, which was given them on their marriage by the Queen, who also paid its running costs.
Sophie and their two children were regular visitors to Windsor. Her eldest, Lady Louise Windsor, now 18, learnt to drive carriages on the estate with her grandfather Prince Philip and paid tribute to him earlier this year at the Royal Windsor Horse Show’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations by driving his carriage in front of a misty-eyed Queen.
During the pandemic, when restrictions were partially lifted, Sophie went for regular walks with the Queen in Windsor Great Park, particularly after Prince Philip’s death when she became her “rock”.

Earlier this year the Queen appointed her to what had been one of Prince Philip’s military roles — colonel-in-chief of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. And yet once upon a time, she and Prince Edward were the black sheep of the family. When she married the queen’s youngest child in 1999, Sophie Rhys-Jones was the first working woman from a middle-class family to marry into the Firm. Her mother was a secretary and father an executive in a tyre company, and she had been working for Capital Radio when she met Prince Edward. She then went on to join a PR firm where she ran campaigns for Mr Blobby and Thomas the Tank Engine.

Her new husband Edward had previously raised eyebrows when he quit the Marines to pursue a career in TV, starting out by making the much-derided It’s a Royal Knockout in 1987. The medieval-themed one-off game show involved teams led by Prince Edward, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, captaining celebrities including Gary Lineker, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Meat Loaf. It raised a considerable amount for charity and hauled in huge ratings but was described as an undignified embarrassment.

Sophie’s time trying to juggle work with a royal marriage was brought to an ignominious end two years after the wedding, when she was duped by the News of the World reporter Mazher Mahmood, known as the Fake Sheikh. Believing him to be a potential client for her PR company, she was caught on tape offering indiscretions about the prime minister of the time, whom she derided as “President Blair”, and his wife Cherie (“horrid, absolutely horrid”) while referring to the Queen as an “old dear”.

About the same time, Prince Edward’s TV production company broke the Palace’s own privacy rules by filming his nephew William while he was at university.
For some years the couple disappeared from view, eventually deciding that careers were incompatible with royaldom. Edward’s TV production company and Sophie’s PR firm were wound up and they became full-time royals.
Sophie admitted to me it was a struggle and that she did not enjoy royal duties at first, wanting to take over events she attended, “not just be the icing on the cake” as she put it. But over time, helped by the Queen’s guidance, she had learnt to “manage expectations”.
“Certainly I missed it to begin with,” she sighed, talking about giving up her career. “Certainly, it took me a little while to find my feet. But I’ve met some incredible people during the time I’ve been doing royal duties. I’ve learnt a huge amount about an awful lot and now I’ve got this new area [campaigning against war rape] which is enormously challenging and quite an emotional rollercoaster, but I find hugely rewarding.”
When we got back from the trip I went to Bagshot for tea where I asked her what she saw as the role of a royal family in the 21st century?
“Gosh!” she replied. “I would hope the consistency of us being there, the Queen being such an amazing monarch as she has been for so long, I hope we carry on being able to do the same.”

The Knot 2.0 (Minaudiere)

Friends, now that there’s a new generation of Knot bags being issued under creative director Matthieu Blazy, I propose starting a new tread to help us stay organized between these and the Tomas Maier era Knots.
Also, and this is just me being pedantic, our TM-era Knot thread had “Clutch” in the title, but the plot thickens (!) because MB is now releasing Knot designs that aren’t clutch-carry! Here’s a photo from my shopping excursion last weekend at my local BV boutique.

Allergy developed from new Chanel bag

Hi,

I need advice. I am not sure if it is my nickel allergy or something else. I have had two Chanel coco handles eons ago and recently bought a messenger bag with shiny calf skin. Now those two coco handles had been with me for a long time and never given me problems.

But I developed some sort of reaction to the messenger bag - when my skin comes into contact with the straps (metal with leather threaded through), hives just appear where the strap is in direct contact with the skin

The bag was purchased new from a Chanel boutique a week ago and not from a reseller. I tried it on while wearing a high collar long sleeve jacket (winter in Australia), so no reaction was seen then. Only when I wore it at home with the t shirt and heating on, then itching started.

I tried it with my coco handle bags two days after the welts went off but those didn't trigger itching. Then I tried the new bag on again - itching started followed by the hives.

Due to the return policy, I will not get a refund but store credit…and I don’t think they will oblige with a refund.

However I am too afraid to get another bag in exchange now and most of the Chanel clothing don’t fit me. Any one has any advice or similar experience ? I can’t refit it with a leather strap unlike my other bags too.

Advice needed!! First piece of Alhambra for a Guy

I have always been in love with the Alhambra series but was afraid that I could not handle well. But this year I decide to have a go with it and thus would like to ask for your advices on what items would be good choices. I usually wear one or two bracelets (silver ones and enamel ones from Hermes, silver and pearls from m.cohen) at a time and necklace wise, I wear a WG serpenti cross all the time. Usually I will match a necklace on top for my neck and I would match 1-3 rings b.zero, JUC, clash, or trinity with rose gold or white gold most of the time. I am not sure if the information is useful but I would appreciate if you can advise me on what is the best for me to have a taste of Alhambra before going all in (which is very likely). I don’t have a huge budget so WG with diamonds would not be my choice for now.

What are you picking up for Fall?

Im getting my Fall shoe wishlist together and I am having such a hard time deciding what I am going to spend my money on this season! I live in SoCal where it is HOT well into November. I’m also a mom of two young kids and spend a lot of time at the park and doing preschool drop off/pickup.

Im torn between sandal/summery styles (Hermes Oran, Chanel espadrilles, Prada fishermans) and replenishing my fall basics (new colors in Chanel ballerinas? Gucci Princetowns?)

What is everyone coveting for fall?!
