While it's a stupid thing to say, that is not necessarily ignorance... It's called the "cross-race effect", it is generally harder to recognise differences in facial features of people of other races. It is believed (and has become apparent from research) that distinguishing facial features becomes easier when one grows older and has more experiences with people from a different ethnic background, like Han Chinese.

I have no doubt that that's applicable to people who live in a place where there is very little or no ethnic diversity. But people who live a cosmopolitan city, get the side eye when they make these kinds of stupid remarks.

I agree with you and it's always good to side-eye people when they say stuff like that... But I have to add that each cosmopolitan city has a majority. When I was in Jakarta some people I hung out with (Indonesian and Chinese descent) told me I looked like a "celebrity": like Jennifer Aniston and Britney Spears. These two don't even look alike to me, and I don't look like them. But that's what these people saw. Of course the US, as a nation of immigrants, has an extra interesting mix of ancestries, but still there are relatively few Chinese walking the streets.

Lenny mostly dates models. Lisa is beautiful. That's a lot of pressure to live up to as you're growing up. I can see why she was insecure.

I also appreciate that she acknowledges how her parents fame has helped her in her own career. So many celebrity kids try to deny it.
