Licencetocook, There are cranes on the scarf so I thought it might have been about the legend of a fisherman who married a woman who turned out to be a crane. But I think i got it wrong, the scarf looks more like a tribute to Japanese tea ceremony. I googled the kanji on the scarf 一期一会 and it turns out that it has its origin in Japanese tea ceremony.

Here's an excerpt that I found on wiki:

Ichi-go ichi-e (一期一会, literally "one time, one meeting") is a Japanese term that describes a cultural concept often linked with famed tea master Sen no Rikyu. The term is often translated as "for this time only," "never again," or "one chance in a lifetime."

Ichi-go ichi-e is linked with Zen Buddhism and concepts of transience. The term is particularly associated with the Japanese tea ceremony, and is often brushed onto scrolls which are hung in the tea room. In the context of tea ceremony, ichi-go ichi-e reminds participants that each tea meeting is unique.

thank you so much for this great info Evekitti!

"Does anyone know if "Monsieur et Madame" is still in stores? I loved it in the hot pink/black/white CW when that was on Hermes.com, but now it's gone- did I miss my chance?"

Hi - I love this scarf also and passed on it in the boutique for some unknown reason. By the time I decided that I REALLY needed to have it, it was nowhere to be found. But, I waited and waited and what do you know, a brand new one popped up on eBay. It is now mine and I love it. So keep searching, one will come along. I hear that there will be an M et M cashmere GM in the new Spring line. I have my fingers crossed that one will be in the same colorway!
You might be able to find it at the sales, I got mine at last June mothership's sale

Hi,
Just love this site. I am planning my trip to France next month and read that Parisians are carrying Longchamps totes for their groceries and purchases. Well, one search lead to another, and I started looking for Hermes scarves which brought me to tPF. Loony's lovely Toites picture inspired me, and I was bidding on the aqua (not sure of the official name of the colorway) Toites when my new iMac melted down. A "logic board failure." Eight hours later, I was ready to melt down. Well, some lucky person got my grail. J'adore the Toites design. Any suggestions on where to go in Paris for resale Hermes? I will go to the Hermes boutique, of course, but as I am self taught in what little French I know, I am shy about stepping foot in there.:s If you hear of Toites, I'd love to know. Thanks.
my favorite store was depot vente du 17th, many scarves there, Catherine B in the Rive gauche has tons also, but she is not very helpful and the good HS are too expensive

I am looking for the GRANDS FONDS scarf in the blue colourway. Anybody that knows where I can find one in excellent condition, please please let me know.

I am so annoyed at my stupid self, I saw one only the other day but I was not sure they would ship to the U.K. I have since found out that the store is in Paris, I must have been having a really bad day.:girlsigh::girlsigh:
