The first somewhat designer bag that gave me that bag-buying high was a Goldenbleu Natasha, in calf hair and embossed with a feather quill:

exclusive to anthropologie. I had been lusting over it for forever, and then when it went on sale for $215 I sprung for it. I told myself I would never need to spend so much on another bag again, but it was only the beginning of my bag addiction! Now I look back and I think, wow what a great deal! the quality is so great, it's even lined in suede...::sigh:: if only all my subsequent purchases turned out so well.

LV Batignolles....which I never carry anymore, it's too small and I really prefer a shoulderbag. I should sell it but I am emotionally attached--I still remember the terror and the thrill of buying it from eluxury.

Define for me what a designer bag is? Really I got to thinking and don't know exactly the answer. I KNOW certain bags ARE (Chloe, LV, Gucci, Prada, and many others) but is it strictly a price thing? Are D&B, Fossil, Brahmin, Jessica Simpson, Hobo, Big Buddha, etc in that price range considered designer? Does a name make it so? Then I'm sure low end bags, though perfectly decent bags like St. Johns Bay, Liz Claiborne, and many others that can be bad for under a hundred bucks, don't qualify, but why? As the case with Liz bags, it is a big name in fashion, so why isn't it considered "designer"? To qualify does it have to be styled by ONE individual? That seems good, except I doubt all Chloes, Channels etc are. Really confused ( ignorant) here.:confused1:

when i turned 14 my parents bought me the LV blue speedy with blue jean material as my b-day gift :) because they believe that it is better to buy me a good bag to start off that i can use when i am old than to get me other bags that i have to leave behind when i get older

My mom bought me a blue Guess bag when I was 16 or 17, I think. It was $99, which I thought was really expensive at the time for a bag, and I had to beg her to get it for me. It was my favorite bag for a few years and I used it to death! I still love it, but it's stored in the back of my closet now.
