Mine was a Vuitton Speedy 30 - that was in April 2004 for my 16th birthday. I still love it!

My first massive purchase was the Hermes Birkin 30cm in black togo leather which cost me 3K over here in the UK and took me two summer jobs to pay for it!
I love love love it though - it's a bag for life.

I had several bags from LV, Bottega and Fendi (some are gift from bf) but my most expensive purchase was my Hermes croc birkin 30cm and until now still paying for it. Im still in retail rehabilitation.....(no bag purchase for this month)

Oh my goodness, let's see... my first BIG handbag purchase was a chocolate brown Lussac from the LV boutique in Paris. I'm pretty sure I remember my heart pounding guiltily in my chest as I handed over my credit card to the SA. But it was and still is one of the most practical bags I own -- and tough as nails, damn near 100% waterproof, too (believe me, I know. it's been unintentionally but thoroughly tested).

Still, I wanted to 'protect' my Lussac -- for posterity, my unborn children and all that, you know -- so I bought a new 'everyday bag' to take a bit of the burden off my cherished Lussac. The stand-in bag turned out to be a gorgeous dark chocolate doctor's bag from Tod's. And I wore it religiously every day for years, until I started to worry about it prematurely aging, so I bought *another* bag after that... and another... and another... and another... And I love them ALL!

And now I don't look back when I make slews of these extravagant purchases (because I'm afraid I'll find a group of men in white coats trying to catch me with a straight jacket! :P ).

My first one wasn't very big, my husband and I were in Selfridges, London, and I got so overwhelmed with all the choices that I ended up picking a small burbery novacheck that I didn't even like very much. The next time I wasn't so meek and went home with another burberry, a gucci clutch, a dior pouch and a LV MM looping. That was a great day :yahoo:

My first designer bag was an LV, it's too small for my needs now (I'm a mom), but I still love it.

I have had Obsessive ComPursive Disorder ever since!

Good luck saving up for the designer bag and go for it when you're ready.

My first big purchase was a Marc Jacobs Stella tote in wine in 2003. I think it retailed for $895. It was a HUGE shock to spend that much money at once, but it was worth it!

My first big purchase is an LV Alma purchased for $950 including tax at the LV store! Ouch! At least there is no doubt in my mind it's authentic and I know it will last a lifetime!

My first big purchase was a Rose LV Spring Street at the LV boutique. I had bought some pochettes before but never spent that much on a bag before. At the time I couldn't afford it and I had to charge it on two credit cards but eventually I paid it off and enjoyed it for many years.
