Im posting the pic of the emerald pendent because it is done in 18kt yellow to add a little help in adding a little color to the stones as they are a little lighter green than the norm & to ease the building of the frame for setting the slightly brittle emeralds they are known to be easily chipped if rough handled a little. The stronger yellow color of 18kt yellow gold always reminds me of the color of the yolk of an egg, a warm & rich color-what I tried to bring to the pendent-stevie...

beautiful pendant

Here where I am from and particularly for people of my ethnicity, yellow gold is the rave as it has always been (specifically the 916). As it is ubiquitous and almost everyone I know tries to tell me I made a wrong choice by choosing platinum as my engagement ring and rose gold as my wedding band, I don't really tend to go for yellow gold though I have a few bracelets and necklaces. I guess I do love yellow gold for most of jewelleries.

Loving this thread!! I too am going through a chunky gold phase. Although I'm suspecting it's much more than a passing phase. Gold is sticking around for me.

I'm in Australia and it's near impossible to just buy 21-24k gold. Nearly everything is made in 9k. Michael hill is the only mainstream jeweller who makes in 10k. Extremely frustrating, but then again the prices reflect this..

My engagement ring set is a yellow gold band and a plat halo ring with yellow fancy orange brown diamond. So in effect it is two toned. I'm pushing all my new acquisitions over the last four years have been yellow. I just think it looks so luxurious, so rich and expensive. I know lost of previous comments in this thread talk about a more olive skin tone looking better - waah- I'm a pasty white girl who burns in the moon light. I hope it still looks good on me :-)

I'm on the fence about hoop earrings. I'd really loooove some discussion on large gold hoops, 2-3 mm wide, 40mm dia or bigger- patterned? Satin finish? Round profile or square profile? Etc. I have been on the fence for aggges- I always chicken out and go for a dangley drop with a Shepard's hook.

Help?

I love all of these pieces! I got rid of most my yellow gold and started wearing all white gold now I totally regret it. :( I have started to rebuild my collection again. This is one of my favorite pieces that I almost left in a hotel room (pregnancy brain), thankfully my MIL always checks my rooms before check out!
did you ever post this chain and the story behind in on pricescope?? I'm sure you're the reason I've had "baht gold" in my ebay watch list for years lol!! Love it!!! Thanks!!

This was my first huge gold piece, it's a collar with patterned and plain links. I feel amazing wearing it- not at all dated. I do admit to prefer wearing a collared shirt to down play and hide it a bit but My friends are trying to coach me out of that sad habit :-)

Hi! LOL Yes that was me :) The color of higher carat gold is just so buttery delicious. It looks great on everyone, if you ask me. You should post a photo of your ring. It's sounds beautiful! I too have thought about hoops and have never taken the plunge. My MIL wears nothing but hoops and they look great on her, so maybe we should just go for it :) I hope you find some baht gold goodies on eBay. I have been buying odd shaped diamonds and colored diamonds lately which are not really up to pricescopes standards but I love them because they are unique and not what you see everyday. I like to look on pricescope from time to time to see all the pretties but I do not post much anymore.
