Wow, Lining Up For Gucci!

Haven't seen any lines at the Gucci store near me in California but they have been busy. I have to admit that I've been turned on to Gucci because of its quality and style. Never been a huge LV monogram print fan and with all the problems people been having lately is why I've decided to stay away from the brand.

The Gold Coast Gucci store has been really busy also, not so much the Brisbane store which is in desperate need of a facelift. I really dislike going into the Brisbane store and I think many other people do too because its so brown, dark and drab.

I've always loved Gucci...good for them! Something tells me between the little SOHO crossbody. the Princetown mules and the longer cut loafers...Gucci has made a resurgence. I find Gucci beautifully made, great leathers and "with-it" styles that still have the classic Gucci flair.
I'm looking at the Lillian tall boot in black to buy...gorgeous and stylish!
Senior moment...I meant to say the DISCO crossbody!

When Tom Ford was at the helm, queues were common occurrences at Gucci stores. I still remember the bucket bag that was the 'in' bag then.

After that, Gucci lost its shine and I'm elated to see it reinventing itself and creating waves in fashion again. Admittedly, I lost interest in Gucci but they are beginning to pip my interest in them again.

Do you guys usually wait in line to get in to the boutique? I was at the mall today and thought I’d look around gucci to get something I might like but the door guy told me that I had to get in line to get in. There were like 10 people inside the boutique (but I could be wrong) and i’m just wondering if this happens often or is this a new rule or it just so happened that the boutique was “packed”? Or maybe there was a Vip and had to control the crowd.

Yes I've waited outside if they feel there are too many people. This happens during a holiday weekend when the malls are crazy. there's a lot of Columbus Day sales going on now.

As you can see we have a whole thread devoted to this.

On Friday I asked my SA about this development. 3 things.

1. Numbers:
Situation was Gucci stores were getting too crowded with customers waiting, taking up chairs that should be for people looking at jewellery or shoes, browsing RTW by themselves, trying on (not putting things back in the right place) messing up displays etc. Basically acting like they're in Top Shop (my judgement, not hers).

2. Popularity and curiosity:
A lot of new-to-Gucci people just want to browse often many depts and asking many questions (fine too) while others have huge lists buying for others overseas - this is not what Gucci is used to, and both of these patterns occupy a member of staff for a long time.

For 1 & 2 the queues are not just a way of making sure people get served soon after entering the store but also so that customers inside the shop can have a pleasant experience.

3. High rollers:
VIPs come in before or after normal hours and flagships have a floor most people do not see. They don't queue, they don't cause lines.

This for general info and not directed at anyone in particular:

If you're new(er) to Gucci (or new to that particular store) and have to wait in line, once in, if you make a contact with your SA whilst purchasing, take a card and make an appointment for the next time, they can inform security.

The busiest times of the day tend to be the afternoons and weekends. Lunchtimes are less busy but there're also fewer staff available. If you want to avoid queueing, mornings are quieter and (if your store has one) late night openings.

Interesting. I've never had to. Was in the store yesterday and walked right in. And the store is in a popular mall.

Where are you located? In Seoul a lot of luxury shops will enforce queues even when there's almost no one inside, in order to give everyone an SA as soon as they get in. I don't care for this, bc a lot of times I just want to look around before I flag someone down for help.

I don't normally shop at Gucci but I thought I'd pop in the other day just to have a look. They made me start a line, so I left without going in at all. =\

Thanks

thanks for the info! I’ve been to this same gucci boutique a year ago and been going to the same mall for years now and this is the first time I’ve encountered the queuing system at Gucci. The LV shop was way busier than Gucci that day but I guess I prefer queuing for a better experience. Or get an appointment with my SA. I felt so rushed at LV that day!!! But I was starving so I didn’t mind but I’m hoping for better service next time. I just thought I’d stop by gucci to get something but since there was like 3people ahead of me and I was starving, I left. Lol! I guess If I had stayed, it would’ve taken me 10 minutes to get inside.

I live in the US. I also don’t like being followed when I shop or look around. Some of my SA know this so I let them take care of other clients until I’m ready. Shopping is my me-time so I prefer to be left alone and I really take my time when I’m shopping. Lol

Totally agree, I wish more retail outlets appreciated this shopping mentality!
