Wow... I was completely fooled by a fake

I have a fake that my grandfather bought for me in the early 80's at a flea market for 10 bucks. (I posted a little story about it being my first) It's a speedy and damn if it isn't close to real even from way back then. It has dark honey patina (it was almost white when it was new), stitching is perfect and there isn't really a mark on it and it hasn't turned greenish or anything and I dragged that bag around for years. All the other's I have, I've purchased at LV store and are authentic. I recently received a gift from a good client of mine. She gave me an orange perf speedy. I took it to LV because my friend just bought a new one and when I compared, something seemed off. Confirmed, it's fake. I almost died. Now I carry the one from my grandfather because I loved him so much and it inspired me to buy the real thing and started my addiction to LV but I feel so funny about the other one. I was going to use it as a mini diaper bag but I haven't touched it since I brought it back from LV store in shame.

BTW, for years I worked for a multi million dollar builder in my area. Filthy rich...his wife only bought fakes and so did most of her friends. She said she just couldn't justify spending that much on anything. She said she could see spending a hundred bucks on a fake and putting the rest of what a real one costs into her kids college funds. It was funny at Christmas time to go to their country club and see all these super rich with fake handbags. I just bought myself a Priscilla, but I did contribute the same amount it cost to my IRA and also my son's 529 before I purchased it, so blah! I can justify it!!!

It's sad how many fakes are out there now and a lot of them are really really good ones. My mother was fooled by one on Ebay. She shelled out over $300 for a fake Ellipse and she never got her money back. I detest all fakes and wish people didn't make them. I know there are other people who like them(I can't fathom why because if I couldn't afford it, I just wouldn't buy it or I'd save up), but I guess if they want to buy and wear a fake that's their choice. I've been fooled and I know many others have been by these new superfakes, but I'd rather be fooled into thinking someone else's fake is real and have the real thing in my own hands. :)
