Would you rather have 1 premier high quality bag, or 2 high quality bags?

I been into watches all my life though, so it's ok for me.
If that, I don't know much about watch but I think watch is a bit different to bags, if I buy watch I probably buy one 10K instead of 2 5K, what I meant is to buy the most well known most expensive I can afford if to buy, again, I don't know much about watch, it's lots of money to put there you have to make a choice you will be happy and comfortable with

I love these hypothetical, either/or questions!

Even if a Hermés Kelly 25 is under euro 10,000 (btw which currency are we talking about?), from what I learned in the Hermés forum is you can’t just rock up and buy one. You need to buy an assortment of SLGs, silk scarves (which I loathe) and other accoutrements before your heart’s desire is “offered” to you. So it means the bag will cost more, because of the fidelity test (for want of better word!).

The pragmatist in me would go for an affordable bag (eg Longchamp Le Pluage Cuir) and something more pricey:biggrin:

One would have some other bags in the closet already. Around the 1k to 5k range.
Ok. So what brands have typically caught your eye? Are you more classics are edgy? Do you even LIKE Hermes, Chanel? If this were all I was going to spend on bags for awhile, I would most likely get 2 Chanel, a black and a beige/ light pink (lighter neutral) since you could wear those until and through the next apocalypse. Depending on your style there, those would either be reissues or classic flaps (I personally like reissues more since they are understated AND you can typically find preloved NEW for much less - below 5k for a 226 size). Another option, and I like them better than the Chanel, are Lady Diors. The medium size would get you 2 in a dark and light color, those are also timeless and extremely well made. You could do 1 Chanel classic/reissue and one Lady Dior, both phenomenal choices.

The 10k you of course gear into Hermes prices, and unless you're getting a B/K/C that 10k would go towards a bag that you can get preloved for 30-40% less even new, as most H rarely hold anywhere close to their value on resale except the B/K/C. It would be hard though to find an IT bag that would be useful for all occasions, unless you go for maybe a K28, but personally I hate Kelly's, they are so fussy. Hard to bring a birkin to an event or party really but great for everyday. I tried Constance's and they are a solid all occasion bag (but the big H can be off putting and their demand and resale is declining). Lastly, getting one of these from the store is the cheapest route for the cost of the bag, but you have to factor in all the other nuance purchases to get you there. Resale on any of those will put you more into the 14-15k category.

So a 10K bag you're really putting a lot into something you will bank being both practical and versatile, that you won't tire of. And also at 10K, no bag is truly WORTH that except for the name, but hey, we all overpay for the name, right?
