it's most definitely NOT dumb!
I bet at least half the members of tPF have doubles (and triples and quadruples!) of the same style in diff colors

If you find a style that works well for you, and find yourself using it more than any other style, it only makes sense that you'd want to add a second one in another color.

I happen to love the MJ stam and currently own three of them (two quilted and one soft leather), but have owned as many as five at one time! As mentioned here already, Balenciaga fans tend to purchase multiple colors of the size/style that works for them. The Chanel Flap, Rebecca Minkoff's Morning After, Chloe's Heloise and Paraty -- I'm sure if you roamed around tPF and into the various designer sub-forums, you'll find this is a pretty popular topic of conversation and a peek at some of the collections scattered across the forum, would reveal that this is a pretty common trend!

i did it but during purge those "duplicate" are the 1st to go. i'm still tempted to add in more "duplicate" but there are too many other purse that i like as well and i'm not rich enough to have all the bags i want :D

It's not dumb or silly. I have sweaters and dresses in the same style with different colors, so I understand. But I, my self, would not buy the same bag with different colors. I would just choose the prettiest color of those bags then find another bag in different style. For me designer handbags are too expensive to multiply them unless they are on SALE! :p

I have two pairs of bags that are the same, just different colours (LV Papillon and regular hardware Bal City). I have them because I know the style works for me and they're gorgeous, though as someone mentioned before the duplicates are normally first up to go if something has to.

Somewhere, I have a 2 Burberry cartridge bags in the same colour, size and style and 2 Loewe bags exactly the same too (in both cases I wore out one and had to hunt out another)

I wouldn't mind a large Gucci BTH in every colour :shame:

Not at all. With my Tokidoki collection, I have 2 styles of bags that I have multiples in, and I have 2 L.A.M.B. Westfield totes in 2 totally different colors and prints. I love the styles, and the different colors and prints work well with different seasons.
