Sometimes you can find a used strap on eBay- but then it will have a patina and not match a new bag.

If I was you I would probably just go ahead and get the strap.

But I would definitely never allow any of my LV luggage (it'll be an eternity before I get any!) to be checked in. I would be afraid of never seeing it again :blink:

I think you're right shoprodeo. I have Pegase 50,60 andd two keep alls but I could never check in, I agree that it's such a target for theft, and I can't stand the thought of it being roughed up! I usually carry on my Pegase 50 and/or train case--highly recommend the train case, not the "Nice" soft one but the old time hard one, so glam IMO!

I have both the Keepall 50 and 60, with straps. I agree the overall look is better with the strap AND easier to carry.

......(If you get the strap) When you pack it, be sure to put some clothes, shoes at the ends b/c when you put the bag on your shoulder, each end bunches up if everything is predominately in the middle of the bag. Also keeps the look of the bag smoother. This may not happen with the 45 b/c its smaller.
