While drinking our Mai Tais or Rainbow cocktails:graucho:, let me present you something that looks like X Men's props..the demagnetiser with its assitant, the Compass..
plus all the documentations I got FOC from Cartier.

Omg. You are supposed to do this to your watch when it runs slow? That's really nuts. Why can't they replace all of the watch insides? Really, that's not an acceptable solution!

Good question..I have tried yesterday, but the compass didnt move an inch although my watch has slowed down 5 mins..so I cant degauss it right? Gotta test it a bit longer, i guess. I hope it is consistently 5 mins 'slow' then i know it is normal.

Cheers !! Does it work ? Those things look sophisticated to me :giggles:[/QUOTE]

After for so long, can i still do that? So far i have contacted Richemont only and I submitted my watch via Cartier but I didnt have any direct contact with Cartier at all and I could feel they are not concerned with my problem as I didnt bought that watch directly from them. But I think I will try as I have nothing to lose. Thank you so much
And i really thank you everyone here who contributed their helps to me:Dappreciated it!

Hello,
If this was my watch, I would calmly explain everything to a Cartier manager....how long this has been a problem, etc. I would tell them that I am loyal to the brand but that this solution (the magnetic device) is not a workable solution. I would then ask what my options are.

 stupid of me isnt it? Accepted this solution of theirs. If only I know you all here, then maybe the ending is different huh?

I guess as and when my watch started to change it's attitude ie decided to go faster or slower..but so far it is only slower.

On the bright side, I received more things than all of you and i can repair my own cartier:D (i mean if is magnetized) and i always have fruit juice compliment from Cartier everytime I send this watch back. 'sigh'

Oh my goodness, it might be the influence of the Mai Tai but all that equipment (and the compass!!) looks like we are preparing to go camping in the woods. And how often are you expected to perform the demagnetiser ritual to keep the watch going???

Cartier should stand behind their product regardless where it was initially purchased. You need an advocate...such as a local store manager.
If you can write everything out...when purchased, how many times it has needed servicing, whenthey sent the demagnetizer, etc....this will help.
Put it all in writing. Then tell them that this was supposed to be a lifetime/heirloom purchase and that this is just not acceptable. That you have been patient, tried to fix the way yourself(demagnetizer), etc.
Then ask for a store credit.
Get what you want...love bracelet, pearls (they have some nice ones, actually) whatever......

Did you buy it second hand from an individual or on the grey market? If you bought it on the grey market from a legit store, they will usually be able to fix it. If you bought it from an individual, wonder if that is why they got rid of it? If you need a legit grey market business, PM me. I know one that does sell Cartier. They will charge you to fix it though.

Will Cartier not rebuild it for you? Even if you pay for it? I think you said the watch had problems from when you first got it? Many years have passed, can't really expect the warranty to still be in effect.

JMO - asking for a store credit when you didn't buy it from them directly is way out of line. That like buying a used Honda & expecting Honda to give your money back should have problems 6 years later. No going to happen.

Of course not. I don't think that anybody would expect this.
I was basing my assumption that it was procured directly from Cartier.

A 6 year old watch/car/whatever purchased from the original manufacturer would be a request that is still way out of line.
That is why they have warranties. To guarantee a reasonable period of time to fix an item. And to keep people from thinking they will forever be entitled to a refund.

My mother's Rolex kept terrible time, losing 5-10 minutes every couple of days until she started sleeping in it. When she was taking it off at night it was still and not winding itself as it does while wearing. We said some terrible things about Rolex, but must take them all back because in her case it was user error.

I suppose that I did not carefully read that the op has had the watch for 6 years.
This really is an issue between the op and her sales manager.
Certainly I would never have put up with a problem for this long.

I bought the watch from a Cartier authorised dealer in Malaysia. This watch shop is a very long established watch seller that has branches in Singapore and Malaysia that also sells Rolex, Piaget etc. I guess this considered not buying directly from Cartier Boutique right?

I m going back to Malaysia soon for a spring break, and I will go to this dealer again to see if I can any of the options you all have suggested or not. Keep my fingers XXX:smile1:

If its an AD, Cartier has approved them for selling the brand & gets the watches from Cartier. So I would think there is no difference whether you'd buy from Cartier store or an AD. If they see it differently, that means the AD designation holds no validity & why would anyone buy from an AD again? That would be shooting themselves in the foot.

There doesn't seem to be a general world wide rules when it come to high end jewelry stores. Never hurts to try. There should be some kind of compromise that can make everyone happy. Good luck!

Having stumbled upon this thread made me a lil worried. I'm considering a Santos 100 Medium for my birthday but I don't wanna have to worry everyday, go back to the shop frequently, be extra late/early for meetings or get lost in time (?). But is this a prevalent issue among Santos 100s? Or has it got to do w/ luck? :crybaby:
