Please don't buy from bharat05, ever.
I won this auction:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200590955523

last Friday, for the amount of 2000 GBP (about $3100 Canadian dollars) and was so excited to finally have the Revelation to add to my collection. I then receive an email from the seller requesting to cancel the purchase. The reason? "The seller did not provide a reason". So, with my money in their hands, I ask why we are all of a sudden cancelling this transaction. Days go by with no answer, only to find this listing on eBay that this seller posted on April 2, 1 day after I won my auction:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200593566111

I got an email back from the seller today, April 4, and here is what it said (quoted directly from the email):

"Unfortunately, the bag is no longer for sale as the winning price was too low. Apologies in advance for any inconvenience caused."

With no reserve in the original auction, I feel it is completely unacceptable to refuse the sale of an item on the basis of the final price not being high enough. No attempt to contact me all weekend, no mention of a refund. And does anyone else find it a bit suspicious that this seller, who has made it clear that they want the final price to be as high as possible, has kept the bidders list private? I have a feeling they're using other usernames they've signed up for to bid on the bag and increase its price until it gets to the amount they're happy to accept. I don't know, I guess I'm just really disgusted by this seller and wouldn't put it past them to do something as unsavory as this.

This experience only solidifies my love for shopping at LV boutiques for their bags. The friendly SA's, the beautiful lighting, being surrounded by like-minded LV lovers and walking out with that brown paper shopping bag.

There's just nothing like it.

um........ i hope you filed this with ebay!!!!!!!!! Thats awful that that happened. Obviously something weird is going on, but ebay should definitely be able to get you your money back!

and yes, um helllllo reserve price! thats what ebay has it for. I dont believe the seller is allowed to do that. ( refuse the sale) that is one of the reason why ebay came up with a reserve price. So they wouldnt have this type of problem. UGH

You better believe eBay is getting involved. Not to mention Paypal!
Ugh, so frustrating. I just hope this doesn't happen to anyone else!

Ebay has a policy against shill bidding, but it is really hard to catch. If they keep the bidders private, does that mean you can't see how much history each bidder has with the seller? I saw one seller get away with it multiple times, but now he is no longer a registered user so maybe ebay finally figured it out. I have had sellers cancel the sale on me 5 times because they didn't like the price. One of them only gave me a partial refund, closed her ebay account, and I had to open up a case to get my money back. I don't even know if ebay keeps statistics on how often sellers cancel sales. So I sympathize. The only reason we shop on ebay is for the bargains and to get the old ones they don't sell in the stores.

Shill bidding. Even the name for it sounds terrible. lol
And yes, when they say private listing, you can't see the buyers name, only the amount they bid. I just have a sneaking suspicion that this seller wouldn't be above doing something like that, after having gone through this ordeal with them.

The only reason we shop on ebay is for the bargains and to get the old ones they don't sell in the stores.

We should come up with an auction site just for LV lovers to trade and auction off unwanted or discontinued LV bags. LVbay, maybe? Haha

This is not necessarily applicable, but some sellers do private listings for items that are high value. It isn't always a shady situation. In this instance, I believe this is a violation of eBay sellers policy, and a seller can have their account revoked for this type of action.

Don't agree to cancel the transaction, leave them negative feedback and call ebay to report this seller. Oh, and of course call ebay/PayPal and get your money back.

Thanks marnee and solid gold! I will definitely make sure this transaction is NOT cancelled and that eBay/Paypal are both notified once their offices open tomorrow morning. I cannot have this seller hold on to my money for much longer, and I sincerely hope no one else ends up buying from them ever again.

Thank you for the support everyone. It helps to know there are people cheering me on from the sidelines! :)

What? Are you saying not only is the seller telling you that you can't have the bag at the price that you won it for, but she's also not refunding you??? :wtf: Wow... that really takes the cake.

Definitely don't agree to cancel - if you cancel, they get their final value fees back, and that would be my guess as to why they haven't refunded you yet -they want you to agree to cancel so they can get those fees refunded.

Your money should have been refunded /immediately/. What she's got going on right now is theft, plain and simple. She has your money, and has no intention of shipping you the item. Did her email that the price was 'too low' come through the Ebay mail system?

It's amazing how many sellers want to hold a buyer to the bidding contract, but don't think that should apply to them if they didn't get enough money for their item.

She didn't want to put a reserve on it, because Ebay charges extra for that.

Oh - and /definitely/ file a Non-Performing Seller report and give her a negative. Something like 'Won item, seller didn't like price, took my $$ & relisted. Buyer Beware!'

And the new listing doesn't have a reserve either!!!!

Make sure you do report this and the refund of your payment should have been immediate; that is so unprofessional of the seller.
