Right now this is purely hypothetical, as I don't even know if my DH would agree to changing my setting! I have wanted to change my marquis to a very clean, modern east-west setting for a few years. Or, at least I think it would look really good this way. I am going to attach a pic of my ring now (soon will be celebrating our 13th anniversary), and a style similar to what I would like. In the photo of the east/west setting, I would not want any scroll work underneath the ring, or diamonds on the side, etc....just very clean lines. Opinions, please! Also, if anyone has any idea on how much something like this would cost, please let me know!!

P.S. It would be in yellow gold.

Gah...I LOVE marquis east/west settings. So much so that I actually have a folder of ones I like on my computer just in case a marquis ever falls into my lap. :p

None of these are yellow gold, but I think most of them would look good in yellow, too.

Oh my goodness...the last one is almost IDENTICAL to the drawing I made of what I would want. The last one in the first post (diamond encrusted) is unbelievable. DO you think it is rude to want to have it reset?? My DH designed the setting, but I love "unexpected" jewelry....something none else has. That is why I am thinking of a reset.

I prefer the east/west setting for marquis. I think you should change it! I like this setting the best and the last one aheartz posted second best. I think both rings will give you an updated look and the clean lines will give you that classic look you are looking for. Plus, your diamond looks to be the ideal size for an aesthetically pleasing east west setting.

I don't think it is rude to want it to be reset- styles change, preferences change, relationships evolve and change! It is not because you don't like your ring now - it is because you want to see it in a new way. The east/west look is more original and I have not seen many people with it, so the ring would definitely look more unique.

Those are two of my favs also. I thought the diamond encrusted version would look good with a colored stone as well.

I'm probably the wrong person to ask about resetting. I didn't like the first ring my husband designed for me because it was very, very chunky so I changed it right after we go married. His feelings were hurt for about an hour and then he was happy that I was happy. And then this year he surprised me with a beautiful upgrade, but in a style he had confirmed I like. I guess the best thing to do is to just ask your husband how he would feel about a change. Maybe if he was involved in helping you design the reset he'd be excited about it?

^^^Possibly! I have mentioned it in the past..before I even knew what an e/w setting was, I talked about having it set sideways. RIght now is not the right time financially, but I am thinking in advance. And glad I did, because I love the pics that were provided!
