I’m still amazed by the obvious vocal issues at the Carol performance from apparently professional vocalists.
That holy night performance! Horrific! He couldn’t hit a note in the song but went on quavering around his rather reedy range and he was singing too fast.

Do they think the peasantry are too stupid to have a sense of music or something? 😂

That’s how royalty thinks of everyone else. It is necessarily demeaning because it exists to enforce a class barrier which defines a royal existence. Hope that helps.
It’s absolutely not the royals themselves who think this way; this is entirely the opinion of the commentator, who claims this is how royalty views others.

Somehow I doubt the Princess of Wales and other royals listened to that singer and thought, "No worries, the peasantry won't be able to tell the difference." I didn't see the performance, but we've had plenty of professional singers butcher the national anthem at sporting events in the US.

Can’t seem to find the barrier, looks like it got buried in this huge impromptu, scrim like hug, with the widely grinning King, the penultimate representative of royal existence.

Edited to add: if this had been posted in the Prince Andrew thread I would have given it a solid thumbs up. As a blanket statement about Royals, our opinions differ. Part of what makes tpf interesting.

I get that the delivery was incendiary but you can’t tell me that a family who maintains a curtesy / bowing obligation within their own personal spaces, is not wedded to a culture of class.

I mean, it’s self-protective, this family exists because of a rigorous class structure, so it makes sense. But Charles definitely does not buy into the “all people are created equal” paradigm.

So I absolutely believe that the royal family believe in a culture of class - anyone who thinks that doesn’t exist in the UK is lying.

I do not think that equates to believing that everyone who isn’t in the royal family is peasantry or beneath them.
