Will your jewelry collection ever be "complete" (or is it already?!)?

I only started collecting luxe jewellery 4 yrs ago. In the beginning I bought everything I wanted without thinking, it became an addiction to look for that next purchase n dopamine hit. I moved on to a more expensive brand and last year I realised that mostly they all just sits in the drawers while I'm on the hunt for the next piece. I've decided to downside, sold heaps and really focused on quality rather than quantity. It was also an expensive journey for me to know what works for me & not how it looks good on insta or pinterest. End of the day nobody really cares but me. This year, I am more intentional with my purchases especially in jewellery. As I age, I tend to get pieces that will suit me in my old age. I enjoy my minimalist jewellery collection comprises of Cartier, VCA & Tiffany and all in metal colors YG,WG, RG & Platinum.
1) Necklaces - 6 pcs - contented
2) Rings - 6 pcs - contented
3) Earrings - 2pcs, need a WG
4) Bracelets - 5 pcs, need YG Guilloche 5motif
5) Watches - 3pcs, eyeing on Panthere for my 50th🤞
I would like to think I'm almost done and I need to learn to enjoy what I currently have while saving for the next big purchase mentioned🙃

I started buying fine jewelry when I was in junior high school. Many decades later I have built quite a sizable collection of fine jewelry. I have never sold anything. My taste has not changed throughout my life and I am always thrilled to pull out a piece that I have not worn in a while. Most of my pieces come with a story and if someone compliments me on an unusual piece, they also get the story about how I acquired it!

I never go searching for jewelry, but if I see something that stops me dead in my tracks, I buy it. I have absolutely no idea how many pieces of jewelry I own. I am afraid to count. 😜

I can’t see myself reaching bling-bliss (my attempt at coining a purse-peace like phrase) anytime soon. Even purse peace for me is a way out but at least with purses I feel like I have a method to my madness and a much stricter wishlist. At the moment my jewellery wish list has 10 items but I know not all 10 of them will survive, I’ll definitely keep editing and curating. Building the list is fun for me, as is designing pieces or stalking bags I won’t actually buy. I only buy when I’m completely certain.

Honestly I am quite slow and considered in my purchases, which is how I justify my spending to myself. It’s all fun-money, the leftover after I’m done with bills and savings. I never let my fun-money pool completely deplete itself either. Put differently - if there’s a piece of jewellery or a purse that I want and buying it would wipe out my fun-money savings - I wait six months until I’ve built a buffer. I’m a compulsive saver and a luxury-loving maximalist all at once so this is the only way to satisfy both contradictory aspects of my personality. If I had to - I would sell my things, and I’ve made peace with that.

So I don’t think I’ve achieved any sort of peace lol but I’m okay with that while also being okay with the idea of not having everything I want. Dreams are free :)

I have been collecting fine jewelry for about six years, buying myself 2-3 pieces each year (nothing too crazy expensive, I prefer 14k and gemstone jewelry from independent brands vs. name-brand jewels and diamonds). Even at this relatively slow pace of acquisition, I have built up a sizable collection. I actually feel like my collection is almost complete, and I have all but one of the pieces that I need for the foreseeable future. I have already planned the last purchase I can imagine "needing," which I intend to buy as my 2025 piece. This may sound crazy to say, but I'm actually a bit sad about it! Over the years I have really enjoyed researching my future purchases and deciding what would help build a cohesive and fun jewelry box. What will I do now? I need a new hobby!

I'm curious to hear about how others decided that they had reached jewelry contentment - maybe it needs a better term like "purse peace"! How did you know when you were finished collecting? If you haven't hit that point, do you have specific desires to get you there, or do you think you'll be collecting forever? Please tell me more about your special collections!
Impossible for me HAHAHAH

I have 65 pieces of jewelry. This past weekend I purchased 4 pieces of jewelry. There are a few more pieces that I want to get off my wishlist. Gold hoops, colorful diamond or moissanite studs, and some pearl earrings. They are classic pieces. I don't want to go beyond that. Lately I have been giving stuff to my niece.

I don’t think I’ll ever achieve bling peace, but I have started to slow down after buying lots of things in 2022 and 2023. But I’m sure I’ll always be looking for my next piece, it’s part of the fun.
I live in a very dangerous city, though, so there’s only so much I can wear at once. That stops me from going overboard with my shopping because I tell myself that there are some things I can’t wear because it’s not safe.

congratulations on reaching the elusive peace island. Personally the planning and wishlists are part of the fun and excitement imo. I tend to work on jewelry in terms of sets like wg, RG, diamond etc. Once I have completed the metal set and find peace I move to the next set and evaluate if refinement/ upgrades are needed. I’m currently working on my wg set and I’m interested in some rested VCA items so this is definitely going to take a while.
I'm the same way, i'm currently working on my YG set, then once complete, i will move on to tweak my WG set.
