Why is the Alma not more popular?

For all of the Alma BB owners-would the BB function as an evening/occasion bag? I have been looking for a vernis amarante clutch but I wonder if this could work too or would it be too large?
Just to give you perspective, when the bb in amarante first came out and I wanted to look at it in store, the ca dissuaded me from even looking at it as she said it was “an evening bag only”. Lol.

@Prettyvogue ...The Alma is actually very popular, but it's been around since 1934? and has been re-imagined and included in many limited editions since then. I think the frequent bombardment of LV releases diverts one's attention from the orignal, classic styles, so it may appear as being " unpopular ", but if it were so, it would not have been updated in so many ways and sizes. It's a LVoely, classic shape !

Just picked up my first Alma BB Damier from TRR--came in original box and lovely condition. Since this is my first LV I was wondering if there was supposed to be a serial number inside?

I bought 10+ LV bags, only kept one nano Alma when nano Alma was released. The problem to me was Almas are not a perfect crossbody bag. I once got Alma BB, but returned it as It did not look good or lay comfortably on crossbody. However Almas are still the most elegant bag in my opinion

Your cutie is still going strong and you’re enjoying it. Still looks so elegant as always. Did you end up fixing the issue with the leather coming off at the bottom? I’ve been hoping they will release more colours in the nano alma. Was looking for a pop of colour like a blue or another shade of pink but doesn’t seem so. Murakami is the focus of the next 6 months 😃

Thank you Bumble:biggrin: I did not fix the scratch because I have to bring it to the store, and any store is too far. I am thinking about living with it. While browsing from fashionfile, also find out epi bags easily have scratches on the edge. I think I will not buy another epi bag that have epi leather coating on the edges(vachetta is an exampt). It is a red warning!

Btw Murakmi is super cute, and CA website is not letting me place orders, why everything has to contact a client adviser?....

On our website here it’s all ‘notify me’ only and has been for a while. So disheartening. I would have loved a NS. Hope you’re able to get something from MK.

I don't think it's as popular as the speedy. But I do see so many iterations of the Alma, and different types of leather, to different colors, different sizes,...etc. I think recently there was a hot pink one in epi online, I almost bought it just for the color! I think they are more popular than you perceive.

I own many speedys, many of them I inherited from my mom and my grandmother. A few I bought myself. I don't have any Almas, so I guess I'm not a fan of the Alma. The reason being it's more of a rigid bag, and for some reason every time I attempt to try it in store, it just looks funny on me. Structured bags don't look good on me, but I appreciate it on others. And I also enjoy seeing how others dress up their Almas.

Interesting thread! I started out with a Speedy 30 but quickly moved to the Alma PM. I rocked my Speedies a lot, added a Speedy B later, which became my favourite bag. Alma has my heart racing, though. It's such a classy bag. I like to dress up every day, and Alma compliments my outfits like no other LV. Now that I'm older my Speedy stays more at home and Alma comes out a lot more. I just added my 4th to my collection. I now have them in all classic versions (Monogram, Damier, Vernis and Epi). I like to wear them on my elbow and I love the crossbody option, I always carry the strap with me, just in case I need my hands free.
So to answer the question, yes I still think Alma is a classic LV that never goes out of style and can be worn by all ages, although I agree the BB is for the younger generation. I love the PM, even more now I'm 40.

The Alma seems extremely popular on the Murakami thread, so I guess it is popular somewhere in this world?!

The neo Alma pm was actually my first LV bag, and I recently rediscovered it. I struggled with the non-adjustable strap but never wanted to buy a non LV strap for it.
But the other day, I just thought I’d use an adjustable black strap from another non-Lv bag, and I love it! Anyway, I’ve been using my Alma as cross body since, and I adore it!

Hello Alma angels :)

A little question for any Alma Nano owners out there. Has the lining of your nano ‘separated’ with use?

I’ve not been able to find a definitive answer online as to whether the lining of this model in particular is glued to the reverse of the outer canvas or not.

I noticed a few days ago that there is a bit of a ripple/separation in the fabric lining of my TM nano Alma, which has previously been nice and tightly fitted, and I’d assumed, adhered to the reverse of the canvas. Is it correct to assume that the lining of this model isn’t glued to the canvas back?

Sorry if there is an answer to this already re: Nano Almas - but a tPF and web search didn’t offer any answers so I thought actual users of the model may know before I contact LV re the issue.

Thanks for any insight you might be able to provide!

Totally normal, it's not glued to the outher layer on any of the models. I have a BB, same. It has the microfiber lining, but it looks and feels to be a separate layer from day 1.
