Why is the Alma not more popular?

I really like the Alma and the dome satchel silhouette (which is a classic shape), and have often considered buying it, but on me the BB size looked better when worn crossbody and I don’t often wear crossbody bags. The PM size felt a bit bigger than I need and the absence of a strap was also a consideration. I almost wish there was a size between the BB and the PM. So for now it remains on my “someday I might get it “ list. I have seen people in my area occasionally carrying the PM size too (hand carry), and it looks pretty stylish and elegant. If I were going into an office/work, I’d choose the PM size.

I do see it as an enduring style rather than very trendy and this might give the impression that it’s not super popular but I think it has its devotees and is a classic.

I don't know if the Alma is popular or not but I find it super easy to use and I can only say good things about it. I have 4 at the moment all PMs: Monogram, Epi black and red and a total Vacchetta. For me it's the smallest size I can use, I'm NOT into the small/tiny bag trend at all. I carry Bolides 35 which I find just the right size. My Epi Almas are my rainy day bags, they can survive anything!

My black Epi PM Alma is my rainy day bag, too! I love the size and the form factor, the double zipper, the fact that it has feet. I've been thinking about branching out in Bolides and have been wondering what size to start with.
I bought a strap for my PM Alma but, have not used it all that much. I think the bag is too bulky for crossbody or shoulder wear. The strap I have was the one that was available back when I first bought the Alma. I might try again with a wide woven strap. I would love to have a smooshy, softer Alma and was ready to make my move on the Neo just when it was discontinued. Another reason to consider Bolides.

I think Alma BB is very popular, and I’ve seen people expressing interest in the smaller nano size, but you’re right, there’s not much obvious enthusiasm for the PM and GM versions. The Alma is actually my favourite bag in terms of looks and capacity (I was surprised at how much my BB can hold for such a small looking bag) and the one I’m most likely to search for on second hand sites. I’d love both bigger sizes in nice epi colours. As for why I haven’t pulled the trigger … too distracted by current releases, and concern that I won’t actually use them that much as I don’t really do handheld bags.

Yes I have shoulder straps for all my Almas and although I prefer to hand carry them, in "emergencies" I use the strap. I definately prefer soft slouchy bags in general , that's why I love the Bolide, the Alma is the only exception!

I love this thread. Why am I only seeing it now?

I always say Alma is the "most Vuitton" of everything they ever produced. I only have the BB, but for some reason I instinctively baby it very much. Maybe the colour :D
I am mindful with all of my Vuittons, but not obsessively careful, but the Alma BB is an exception. That is why I never felt it to be practical, and I am too afraid to stuff it, so it doesn't hold a lot for me either.

My Alma BB is one of my favorite bags in terms of esthetics. It’s definitely not my everyday bag, but one of my go tos for cute weekend looks. I will definitely get another Alma one day, most likely in epi leather. I just can’t decide if I want another BB or different size. The nano is so cute, but lately I’ve been kinda liking the idea of getting a PM.

For all of the Alma BB owners-would the BB function as an evening/occasion bag? I have been looking for a vernis amarante clutch but I wonder if this could work too or would it be too large?

I don’t see a lot of Almas around in my city - mostly Neverfulls, Speedys, Multi Pochette and many Pochette Metis.

However I consider the Alma PM a true LV classic, but it’s not a typical everyday bag.

I own a Damier Ebene Alma PM which I mostly wear for business or formal occasions, while my Kusama BB is a more fun bag I use for casual meetings with friends, shopping spree or dinner.

I think yes, especially the vernis amarante. But you have to have in mind you cannot adjust the length of the strap, this might be a bit unpractical, depending on your size and outfit on a special occasion. I would tend to wear the BB as a handheld bag in such a situation.
