Why Do People Buy Fake Designer Bags Or Fake Designer Anything?

Happily, this forum does care, and those who want to support fakes are on thin ice here, as the participation rules make clear.

Amen. I care for authenticity, inasmuch as one can still be assured of it in today's world. I could not care less for fake stuff and the people who tout them. What you choose ALWAYS reflects on your own values. And, also happily, ignorance of the strict anti counterfeiting laws does not exempt from punishment :smile1:

Wow I clicked on this thread because I thought there would be a interesting dialog on the topic. I love the purse forum and have for years but I'm a little disgusted by what I am reading here.

Everything I own is authentic and I do not support counterfeits. I will never buy counterfeit. I have to agree with purseaddict.... Why do I care what other people prefer to buy? I know I buy 100% authentic. I also agree with what someone else on the previous page said about judging people by their character.

As much as I love purses shoes jewlrey and clothes I try to maintain perspective. At the end of the day they are not important. My family is important my health being kind and a good person. There is too much going on in the world to think your not insane if you think it's not a waist of resources to lock up people with dumb fake luxury goods. "Punish" child molesters , Murderes, terrorist, drug traffickers, human traffickers, rapist, corrupt politicians and corporations.

It's called perspective.... Get some

I used to own a couple of fakes because I was so desperate to know what it was like to carry such beautiful bags... However in the end it bit me on the bottom, I ended up feeling extremely guilty, especially after reading stuff on the forum about fakes in general. I now only own genuine bags and I am happy that I do! Genuine bags make me much, much happier than a fake ever could!

For anyone who happens to come across this post and is deciding whether or not to go fake, don't. Not just for morality reasons, but because owning a genuine bag will give you genuine happiness :D

Copyright infringement is a crime. So is plagiarism. I refuse to contribute to either.

On a less litigious note, I have never felt the need to impress anyone with anything but my own (admittedly offbeat) character.

As that great philosopher Popeye so eloquently phrased it...."I y'am what I y'am and that's all that I y'am."

Words to live by...

So, what do you do when someone gifts you a counterfeit item? They don't lie to you and say it's authentic, it's just that people outside the purse forum don't care there's a difference in it.

I don't buy non-authentics but I have had to return things on eBay because of fakes, but I have family members who do buy fakes because they like the style and inexpensiveness. Some of the shops I went to at a legal ride exhibition sells fake Disney bags, Tokidoki bags, and fake chanel earrings.

One of my siblings gifted me a bag that I found out was fake just yesterday... Not sure how to feel as I was using the bag but there's a huge tear in it anyway (her fake is still fine) and we have the same one in a different color. There's also a fake Louis Vuitton bag sitting in my siblings room too... she's used it about twice and has owned it for at least 3 years now. What a waste of money.

I hate when friends judge me buying contemporary designer. So I DO NOT WANT TO TREAT OTHERS HOW I DONT WANT TO BE TREATED. As long as I know I don't buy fakes, I am happy. Even though most of my bags are preloved. To each their own. I do not think it is right for me to judge even strangers.

Last year I was gifted a fake Grade A LV backpack by one of my relative. She bought from Thailand, she thought it was a nice gesture since she knew I love LV but I politely declined and was ridiculed! She still carry her fake but who am I to judge her? I have school and weekend job to think about. Whatever she likes is non of my business.

I always think if a person wants an LV or Hermes or whatever and buys a fake, they still don't have one, plus they now have less money in their savings towards getting the real thing.

I will buy a similar item in a cheaper brand if I like the style, example the MK that is like an LV Totally, or the LAMB that is like an LV Speedy, but not something that pretends to be a brand that it isn't.

What she said.

There are many reasons why we should care about who supports counterfeits one is here: http://www.adnas.com/company-blog/child-victims-counterfeit-trade they are not "just a purse" or "personal choice".

Well, to my knowledge there are many people who buy fake designer bags without realizing the brand itself. let me make it more clear. once I started talking to a woman and I told her wow you carry a LV. She did not understand what I meant by LV and replied, oh it is beautiful is not it? I bought it from a stand close by. My reaction:nuts::woot::

Yesterday I shared with my mum and sister the topic in this thread. This is exactly what my mum said.

- You hate it when your school friends judged you for buying "old dirty preloved". So DO NOT STOOP SO LOW as to judge others for whatever bags they have! And YOU BETTER study more instead of thinking about that!!" [emoji12]

What she was trying to tell me is I better don't behave like my school friends who judged friends based on something as simple as bag. Well my mum is not crazy about bags like me and my sister. She only have few bags herself. [emoji12]
