We went from people who carry fakes are liars and thieves? To people who carry authentic bags are insecure with a low self esteem?

WOW! What's really going on around here? Lol

Sometimes , CornishMon, you can even wear an authentic item and pretend it's a fake....;)
I remember the Cartier watch which was offered to me as an anniversary present.
It was not ostentatious at all, the model was not the most "popular" in the brand, anyway I used to wear it everyday, no one had asked me anything about it, until the day when a teenager sitting in front of my desk ( I was working in a high school at the time) said:
" Oh Miss, you have a Cartier"
I was so taken aback that I replied
" No, it's a fake, I bought it on an Italian market"
He started laughing
" No way, I know it's a genuine one"
How did he know? I don't know....
Why did I lie? Because I don't like showing off.....
So everybody can be a liar.....

What? You must be referring to my post but that's not what I said.

People climb mountains for different reasons. Some to attain heights. Others so they can look down at the people below. For me, the former is laudable while the latter is laughable.

Fim, thank you for articulating how so many of us feel about this thread.

Just as a matter of interest a few people here who consider it ok if 'others' buy & carry counterfeits. What happens to those counterfeits afterwards? Presumably you can't sell them on, like you could with a real CHANEL, you can't give them to charity- do they just disintegrate as the quality was so poor? Or do they just stay in the closet and multiply?

Fake bags get donated to charity stores all the time. Goodwill is actually the only place I've seen them sold. I got a Burberry bag from Goodwill, obviously thinking it was real at the time, I now suspect to be fake. The quality on it is as good as my real Burberry, but it does in fact sit in my closet because I'd never attempt to sell it or donate it back. It'll just get thrown out.

All I have to say is if you have to rationalize why at all you have to wear a counterfeit bag, you are going against the entire grain of this Purse Forum of over 500,000 members who belong here and have devoted it to authentic premier, contemporary and affordable handbags and jewelry. There are plenty of other forums out there all over the internet where you can talk all day about the virtues of counterfeits. That is my opinion, and I am sticking to it. Flame me if you must....I can take it. I just can't see why anyone would want to carry a fake.

My terrible aunt (she's terrible not because she buys fake bags but she's extremely mean and selfish) has tons of fake LVs. She keeps them in her closet when they disintegrate. Some of them the monogram canvas had faded or the leather does not achieve any patina.

I have a fake Prada. It's not even sort of convincing--plain lining and hardware--but I love, love, love the shape of the bag, the chocolate brown and cream colors, and the way the interior pockets are laid out.

I eventually started feeling bad about carrying a fake and misrepresenting the brand, especially as it started to show wear, so I've stopped carrying it. But it's one of the most functional bags I ever had, and if I could find its authentic twin, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
