Bit off the topic.

I just joined the purse forum recently, and I love it here.
The diversity of topics we read and write about is spectacular and I am learning so much in this one place. Thank you all for the haven of veiws and information. Some serious, some sad ,some funny, Just Love the Purse Forum.:yahoo:

exactly. we all judge others to some extent- whether is concious or not. i dont look down upon people who cannot afford an authentic LV bag, i know many cannot. that being said, there are so many other options one has without resulting to a counterfeit. someone can dress head to toe in generic brands from tj maxx and look like a million bucks. someone can dress head to toe in couture and look like trash. even if it is not our place to judge, it doesnt matter- we're still going to do it.

I completely agree :yahoo:. If it is such as non issue or not important, then why did Narcissa write a multiparagraph long post in this thread? As for who is to judge, we all judge everyday about something. Even when we think "what an ugly outfit" , we are already judging the designer and people who wear the item. Btw, condemning people who oppose fakes is also judging. No ifs, ands, or buts.

And wealthy people who own fakes? What are they attempting?

I just peeked in on this thread because it seemed like a dupe of the "people who carry fakes and thinks it's ok" thread....and I was curious....but it seems these 'wealthy" people who carry fakes are an urban legend...someone always knows someone who knows someone who is wealthy and carries fakes but no one can prove or disprove they exist?....And so the legend continues? :thinkin::wondering Oh well, that's just my thoughts re that particular argument....anyway I haven't anyone posts except those on this last page of this thread so I won't comment further....

lol@ this being a legend. really? of course you're not going to find someone with firsthand stories about being wealthy and owning fake bags on the purse forum, lol. i know wealthy, fashionable girls who wear fake chanel...and are studying at FIT to be a fashion designer (of sorts, don't know exactly).

An urban legend? Seriously? So every single person who is rich carries only real bags? And you know this because you know every single wealthy person on earth? My stepfathers mother is rediculously wealthy...(she doesn't make $50,000 a year or is wealthy with life experience...she has millions in the bank. Upwards of 15....) and she has quite a few fake LVs, some from the 80s. She could care less and uses them often. Shes a great women. Her decision to wear fake bags is hers. She could absolutly buy anything she waanted directly from the store, however, she doesn't care to. So, urban legend, it is not.

"Wealthy" is relative. Some consider a person who makes $50,000 a year wealthy, for others you're only wealthy if you're a multimillionaire. Spending habits are more about personality and life experience than actual income anyway. Different people have different tolerances for debt and living paycheck to paycheck, also some are proud bargainers and will spend as little as possible no matter what they make while others could care less and spend way over their means b/c they live just for the day. You can take a person from any income level and they could either have the potential for bankruptcy or financial security. Look at Michael Jackson, the guy made millions a year but he was financially insolvent b/c of overspending. It's not how much you make, it's how much you spend relative to how much you make.

I'm talking about monotary wealth. I don't know who considers $50,000 a year really wealthy anyway....I mean people who make millions or have millions in the bank and are able to live LAVISHLY off the interest. I'm confused why when people have nothing else to say in this thread they disect a word as straight forward as WEALTHY. I think it was obvious what I meant.....

i cannot afford designer bags no matter how much i like them, but i never ever wear fakes.

so i just go for the next best thing.. to buy a bag that i can afford--even if its not designer or branded. it's as simple as that.

Either option would be beneficial to you.

People who carry fakes either don't know, or don't care about the fact that fakes represent child labor, drug trafficking, and terrorism. They also probably think that no one can tell the difference between a real bag and a fake bag, so they pretend they can afford the real thing. A girl in my school once bragged to me about how her parents bought her a new "Chanel" bag, and that it cost $90. I thought that was hilarious. If it were real, it would be about $900.. not $90!! People try way too hard to appear to have status. Get an extra job & save up for the real thing if you really want a designer bag! =]

Well, I was also referring to monetary wealth, and tons of people would consider $50,000 or $100,000 a year wealthy, especially if it's a 2 income household and each person is making that. There are people who have nothing and are barely paying their rent and bills living on $15,000 or $20,000, so yeah that is a lot of money to them. That wasn't even my main point anyway, my main point is that it isn't about income, it's about habits and life experience which shape your spending. If you think there aren't millionaires carrying fake bags, you are very naive, and they do it because they don't care if their bag is real.

^^^ I agree. I was using the term wealthy to mean excessivly rich. $100,000 a year is great. Is it wealthy? I dont think it is. It is comfortable. But that isnt the point. I do however agree that many WEALTHY people carry fake bags, because yes, they just don't care.
