You're not crazy !! I always think, man, I better drop everything now and start saving for a Birkin ! If Louis Vuitton is crap.. I shudder to think what other brands are !! Maybe you've just decided you want something more in a handbag, and there is nothing wrong with that.

I think it is easy to feel like you need something bigger and better when you find a place where many people have "bigger and better". I run the site, and I am totally jealous of many ladies bag collections! It is ok to see bags and like them, but do not begin to think that LV is not an amazing brand or is crap. Because that is far far far from the truth. LV changed the world of handbags. It is easy to see other people's collections or hear what they say and be jaded, but try not to let it affect you too much.

Thank You one million times ladies....I just want to clarify one thing I love LV and I know that it is a well made bag. I've just been feeling like it's "crap" compared to Hermes because of the comments made in that forum about the bags being "handmade". I used the word "crap" for lack of a better term. I've wanted LV your about 10 years and have aquired all my bags with in the last year. It's like 10 years ago I made a promise to myself that if I got thru dental school I could get my LV "wish list" and I did, which I could not be happier with. I do feel that I've let others sway my opinion towards a birkin because I to do not understand what the fuss it about yet I was ready to slap down the cash. I declare that I will NOT BE SWAYED ANYMORE!!Thank You for all the support you ladies are GREAT!!!

I think this forum has jaded me. I'm a die hard LV fan, meaning it is the only brand of handbags that I buy. I love LV for so my reasons: style, durability, quality, useabilty. But lately I been venturing in the Hermes thread and I keep getting this nagging feeling the LV is shall we say "crap" compared to hermes....I don't even like hermes but I almost bought a birkin from ebay becuase everyone talks about how great it is (I really am not a huge fan of birkins to begin with). CRAZY that is what I am CRAZY!!!! Does anyone else feel this way? Please explain to me agin how great LV is and help this jaded, bad, and awful voice in the back of my head go away......
Personally I think the hermes has nice simple designs that is pretty nice, but I don't really care about it much. Not that I have the $$ for it  even if I do I wouldn't drop that much on a handbag. To me I don't think it is worth it ( it's just a handbag at all) I also don't even know what's all the hyper about. ( if getting an $$$ is for status symbol, or just b/c it's $$ I gotta save up for one...to me that is just silly ) I say if you have the money and can live with it then get one , why not. But don't just let other influence your choice or like or dislike.

I think it is very easy to get carried away with yourself as a person who has a passion for bags, but you're passion doesnt rule you're life. LV is my no means a crap make, it never has been, nor will it ever be. I think the classic LV brand is trying to keep up with the ever changing fashion world and designs and peoples opinions influence how you view that brand. Marc Jacobs is a new designer for LV I think you could start wondering if his designs cheapening the LV label. I purchased my first LV in oct 2005 and hope its one of many. Try to not let other people influence you so much.

I love LV and have a love for the Hermes Birkin and Kelly, thats about all the Hermes I like. I definately don't think LV is crap. I would like to add either the Birkin or Kelly to my collection but I don't see myself carrying them as much as I do my LV's.

If it helps anyone  :p

I still dont have an LV bag. I DREAM of one, I drool over them online day after day. When I see you lovely ladies out on the town or in the shopping mall with your beautiful LOVELY LV's I secretly look at you so longing. I ohh and ahh over how your patina is coming. Sometimes I say "Nice Bag" but most the time I don't want to interrupt. Oh to be an LV owner one day....

   You lucky broads:love:

Thank goodness Im not the only one! Personally I would never spend over $900 on any purse. But for some with larger incomes I can understand the stuff under $1500.....But once you get into 2K and above, most of them 7K and above....its no longer about the purse if you ask me.
Here here!! I agree with Kiari. I personally cannot see spending 10K on a bag not matter how much money I have! or how nice the bag is! :D

I can understand how one can easily be sucked into nicer=more expensive bags on this board. It is hard not to when there are numerous new purchases made by boardies everyday. I personally feel that those who purchase expensive designer bags (myself included) whether it’s LV, Hermes, Chanel etc does enjoy the prestige of carrying it. If we truly think that buying designer bag is all about quality then why not buy Coach? I think their quality and leather is superb not to mention their unconditional guarantee, much more flexible then some hi-end designer brands.
As far as how much money is consider reasonable to spend on a bag. That is just personal preference and how much it is worth to the individual. While those that will never fathom the thought of spending $5k+ on a Hermes, there are others that will feel the same about spending $500 on a purse or even $100. So to each and their own.
I guess bottom line, buy it only if you really like it, there is no reason to purchase something just because everybody else is.

LV rulez !! Yet to own one but I feel it stands on its own. I personally go for design, style and affordability. Any bag decision is a big decision in my dictionary. Lets go by our 'bag-instinct'. LV is IT, ladies. :D

I agree with the comments above -- it is far too easy to just get caught up in wanting the "best" whatever that means. C'mon, if we're talking just quality, Coach is excellent quality. It's the buzz, the cache. I am just as susceptible as anyone else, but I know even when I start getting carried away that it is just a short term "fix" -- and I seem to be most susceptible when I am avoiding issues elsewhere. When my work is going well and I am spending more time in productive areas, I am thinking way less about bags or clothes. I took a course in Pranyama -- a kind of breathing-focused meditation -- at Kripalu two years ago. The instructor talked about "energy dumping" -- that really impressed me -- and I know that's what I'm doing when I'm spending way too much time in areas that are not where I should be and really want to be working, but avoiding because it is too difficult or painful to go there right now.
