It is indeed the same person. I believe that there are two accounts because of the limits eBay puts on sellers of luxury goods, but I haven't asked the seller. He seems very forthcoming and would probably respond if someone asked him!
I'm glad for whoever won it - they must have really wanted it and will hopefully be thrilled when they wear it. If I'm not mistaken, a black and grey Carneval de Venise went for $3000 also...
