I have a Kipling's small backpack with Ivan hanging by its side. I used it for work & wash them in washing machine 2x/mth!! It's very lightweight n weatherproof! Lots of compartment too!

I think they're great for those times when you want to just be able to move around without having to worry about your bag (like on vacation or to the beach). As for daily usage though...maybe it's just me but fashionwise...they're not to my tastes ^^;

I can see how they'd be useful though for students who need to carry around heavy textbooks and don't want bags that weigh a ton by themselves.

You should check the Kipling-USA site out - there is a lot more there than you know, apparently - I never would have considered Kipling until the one I just bought caught my eye - the Kipling Sugar has such a unique shape - this is NOT my mother's 'nylon bag' or even a silly French tote...:laugh: Now I will NOT be carrying the monkey that Kipling bags come with, that's certainly not to my taste.

^^^HAHAH! Mine didn't come with a monkey. :D It came with a small black and white keychain, but I don't really need that. It's kinda cute, but probably won't be used.

I looked at their site, and they have way too many bags that I would like to have. They look very functional, sturdy, and fashionable to my eyes. Some, of course, look like luggage, but some don't. Great price-point, too. That's a big plus!

My Ivan was 'kidnapped' by my colleague one time. At my age, I was really heartbroken. I found him hanging in my colleague's dining room!! She managed to dismantle it while we were waiting for our transport home!!!

The scary part of having been a leather bag person and then carrying a Kipling bag for a short time - I used my leather 49 Sq. Mi. Levine bag for an event yesterday and even with hardly anything in it, I noticed how heavy it was. Comparatively speaking. And I used to think it was lightweight! I write 'scary' because what if I never want to buy a leather bag again because I'm so spoiled by the light weight?
