I have one, a silver one. I too think it is ugly, but for some reason cannot bring myself to give it away? I have carried it several times. I suppose sometimes ugly is appealing!
to me these bags are pure nostalgia, I loved the monkey plushies when I was a little kid 20 years ago, often played with them on bags of strangers standing in line or somewhere else before us and my mother always scolded me then and excused to the people when they noticed lol
they were extremely popular in the 90s here in Germany and Holland but then ceased to almost forgotten around the millenium, I actually thought the brand didn't exist anymore, but since a few years now they're back with people carrying the newer styles (mostly ladies around 40-60) and younger ones blending the older ones in the current vintage/grundge styles lol (reminding me how oooold I got hehe )
I confess that (actually contrary to these nostalgic memories mmpphh) that I only own 2 little chinese crossbody knock- offs which are really close to the real thing, I bought them just for fun because I rarely have occasions where there's really the need for such a practical bag (like others here said travel, outdoor activities, kids etc....) so I didn't feel the current price tags worth it to invest in something that's only used once a year (and even used older models have their high prices here as I said that they're a fashion accessory for younger crowds nowadays)....but am still a loyal worshipper of the monkey!
