Who Has The Same Bag in Different Colors?

I avoid it but sometimes still find myself getting the same bag in a different color or leather. It happens when I get a bag and after using it for quite some time, I love everything about it. This compels me to get another one when I see that it suits my needs. I still go through my justification that it needs to be a bag that can be used daily. I still think (or convince myself...lol) that it is a completely different bag with a different purpose even with just a different color/material.

I have quite a few multiples and I actually do this for clothes and shoes as well. If it works, it works!

But I have learnt a few things about myself in the process. Firstly, I shouldn't buy multiples _until_ I have used the bag and know that the bag really works for you. Spacing it out prevents making mistakes in multiples :p
Secondly, there's a diminishing returns on happiness for me. I am happiest with two (typically one black and one color), and I can't handle more than three at any one time.

Everyone is different and I love to hear about all your collections!

Same here, I've only bought a second in the same style after I've had the bag quite a while and know I love it and use it often. Don't think I'd buy more than two the same either. I tend to think if you buy lots of bags in the same style it's more about the collecting side of things than anything.

I'm the opposite, I think my collection looks more interesting if there is no repeat in exact styles, so if I got the same uber bag in another color, I would be doing it because the bag was so dang useful that I would need to make an exception and degrade the 'interest' of my display shelves. Obviously variety is important to me! Interesting variety sparks the collector mentality in me, whereas I feel like if I was being supremely practical, I would find the exact bag that works almost always and buy one in every neutral and one color, so I would never wear it out and always have one that suits my outfit. But my shelf would make me yawn. So I prefer not to duplicate even though it would actually be practical if the style was completely practical.

Really, that makes a lot of sense, Bitten! I definitely buy multiples of underwear, jeans, tees, shoes, v-neck cashmere sweaters, and so on. Things like that are hard to find in the perfect size and style, so when I find a "good" one I either buy it in quantity (like white tees), or in a variety of colors (like AGL flats, of which I have an embarrassing number ).
You say there are no words for you? Sure there are! The words are "savvy shopper!" :flowers:
Oh thanks love, you're too kind :hugs:
It's true though, I find the multiple-buy approach simplifies my life! Like you, I buy multiple white tees and blouses for work, I update jeans and trousers in double and when it comes to shoes for work, lets just say show me a nude/tan patent point toe pump or a black patent point toe flat and I'll show you my wallet x2 plz
I just never have to think to put an outfit together in the morning - it all goes together and the bag and the jacket make the statement :coolio:

Initially I thought I only have one bag where I have done this...but then I realised omg, I'm a serial offender! I suppose it makes sense in a way. I'm a big believer in buying multiples if you find blouses or jeans or a pair of shoes that really suit you, so really, how much of a leap is it to do the same thing with bags?

I will post pics, but just as a summary:
- Hermes Birkin 35: Black and Blue Jean
- LV Soft Lockit PM: Magnolia and Galet
- LV SC Clutch: Cherry and Cobalt
- Chloe Paraty: Black and Ivory/Cream
- Tom Ford YSL satin Cigarette case: black and white
- Chanel M/L classic flap: black caviar, beige clair caviar and plum lambskin (eeeeek!)

There are no words for me, truly...:giggle:
Really Bitten! You have two birkin and four Chanel classics! .. all bases covered though. The plum lambskin sounds particularly delectable! Would you post a family photo?

Ugh yes, guilty as charged! All the bags that I have more than one of, are from Chanel:

Classic flap: 5 M/L flaps and 1 S/M flap
Reissue: one 227, one 226 and two 225s
Square mini: 3
WOC: 6 (2 half moons, the rest are in different styles)
East West flap: 2

To me: different color plus different hardware and/or different leather finish ====>> completely different bags

They sound gorgeous! Do you have a group photo?

Thank you, and no I don't, but I'll try :).
In addition to suck at taking good pictures, I'm also super lazy and it take me forever to group them together for a decent family pic.
In the meantime, though, here are some pics of my WOCs and 225s that I managed to take pictures of and posted in the Chanel forum

How can you possibly say that you don't take good photos??? These are standout! Especially that top one, of all your WOCs, with their chains so beautifully coiled in perfectly symmetrical spirals. My sweet lord, woman, that photo is pure magic!!! It's making me want a collection of WOCs, one in every color, thankyouverymuch... and I don't even like WOCs!!!:annoyed::heart::lol:

Thank you, you're too sweet :hugs:. That pic of the WOCs was nothing short of blood, sweat and tears for me, lol :p

I did a search and turned up lots of threads on this topic, but all in the specific designer subforums. I was wondering generally, regardless of which brand you fancy, how many of us have bought one or more of the exact same bag in different colors?

I don't . . . yet . . . but I have the Longchamp Le Pliage Cuir in tan, and I'm contemplating buying black as well. I know that a lot of ladies bought the rainbow of that particular style, and I've seen epic collections of Balenciaga City bags and Marc Jacobs Stam bags in multiple colors too.

So let's hear (and even better, see pics) - which styles have inspired you to go for multiples?

*pops popcorn*
Always have the same bags in different colours, 2 MK Hamiltons, 2 Suttons, 3 Ferrgamo wocs, 2 Coach Hamptons, 5 Zanellato Postinas, it's hard not to, although it's obvious I can only use one at any given time!

I only have one bag I've bought two different versions of, my Reed Krakoff Micro Boxer. I have a black and a floral version. While I'm not opposed to multiples, I find it too slippery a slope with my desire to amass a collection, though. I'd be too inclined to want a rainbow of colors of every bag I liked and if I did that, I'd never wear them all. I know there are certain colors of each bag I'd gravitate towards and only wear those, so those colors are the ones I wind up purchasing. More often than not, it's only one color.
