Who Has The Same Bag in Different Colors?

You guys are sucking me into the mindset of having multiple colors in the same model! I never would have considered doing so before.

Don't get sucked in my friend! It's one of those tPF rabbit holes. I knew that a lot of people in this rarified community did have this particular quirk in their collections and thought it would be interesting and fun to explore, but I don't think it's the norm! If it hasn't occurred to you before, then chances are you prefer more variety, or you simply just don't have a need for 2 of the same bag, regardless of color. Just think of this thread as eye candy! :giggle::idea:

I'm trying! But the logic has already planted seed and taken root in my fertile little brain!
Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think I want to get a second of any bag I currently have but man the bags I'm currently waiting for are so epic in my mind that I imagine that it won't be enough to have them in just the one color! Reality may prove otherwise however. Time will tell!

I agree with this, although I do feel the need to and did buy the same bag in different colours as soon as I find a style that works for me. Having the same bag over and over again is not the norm outside of tpf. ;)

I think my mom might do this - mind you, she buys very practical nylon Baggalini purses, but when she finds one she likes, she'll get it in black + a bright color.

The only reason this mindset can be dangerous for me is because, normally, when looking at a purse, especially an expensive purse, I would, you know, CHOOSE a color. The "well, why don't I just get both?" mentality is a recipe for too many bags, but BOY it's really hard to break once you go there.

Just one other perspective. I actually do the opposite when I get a bag of another color and it helps control my bag buying.

I never see a bag I love and then choose to buy multiples. I start with identifying a bag "need" (color, size and usage). Then I buy the best bag for me that meets that need. Sometimes it's a bag I already have and love in another color because obviously that bag works for me. LOL! So in that way I limit my bags to what I've identified I need and I greatly reduce the chance of having bags in my collection that I don't wear / like because I already know that brand and style.

I have quite a few multiples and I actually do this for clothes and shoes as well. If it works, it works!

But I have learnt a few things about myself in the process. Firstly, I shouldn't buy multiples _until_ I have used the bag and know that the bag really works for you. Spacing it out prevents making mistakes in multiples :P
Secondly, there's a diminishing returns on happiness for me. I am happiest with two (typically one black and one color), and I can't handle more than three at any one time.

Everyone is different and I love to hear about all your collections!
