Even more confused now.... this is what you wrote in the first post in this thread about the croc bag - so it hasn't been delivered to you yet?:

It did take a few months for delivery, but the whole ordeal was done over the phone!

Let me explain then the entire story as it seems this thread is now a biography of Mari and her posts lol:

1) Have I ever purchased a Birkin myself? NO! but as you can find a previous thread:

I'm trying to organise a wedding in a different country (about 2 hours flying away)! It really helps to have a local wedding planner, even if it is a small affair. They can help with finding a venue, a person to hold the ceremony and even sorting out the paperwork. The costs of a wedding planner, contrary to popular belief, are not necessarily sky high! When you add up how many less trips you'll make to the location of the wedding, it does come out to be quite cost efficient for the lack of headache you'll have!

Well guys, I did get married. So how is that relevant to the Birkin posts? Well... my husband had purchased me a Birkin as a wedding present. So was my post about waiting to upgrade to a Birkin a lie? NO.

2) My husband works in acquisitions for a high profile Middle Eastern family in their private office. Also in that same office is a personal affairs departments which deals with their purchase they do not even carry credit cards. They constantly buy at Hermes so they do have an inside contact of some sort. So, knowing that I've always wanted to buy a Birkin and had waited to do so, my then fiancee organised for Croc Birkin purchase. If I used, had to wait to receive it... yes I had to wait... still am waiting. Also, he is an employee and not the owner of the fund so he cannot simply order Birkins as he feels like through the office so I need to go through the normal route.

3) As black card holder of Harrods rewards, I am eligible for By Appointment. What does that mean? They can shop around for Birkins at a Premium.

4) I worked as fashion journalist through my studies whilst qualifying as a lawyer! Now, I can afford to purchase an elegant business bag and I want a starter style one because I don't want something that is too much.

5) I can also afford to buy myself a Togo. What I meant by "I'm getting a Togo" is... I'm eventually getting one, yes. I have spoken to a friend in Spain who has informed me of a store where they are taking orders!

6) I posted this thread to address unpleasant treatment suffered by me and friends, so I'd be grateful if we returned to that.

wait you have a ordered a croc, i thought you said you only had scarves??? i am sooo confused LOL

---

edit: i hope everything is ok, because i thought you had a togo on order? what ever happened with that?

lol I think I answered everything in my biographical post lol... I am ordering the togo one way or another! I've been told 6 months to 1 year by my friend who found the store in Spain... but I haven't put through the order just yet because I want to check again how much the By Appointment premium is this year!

I think I understand your situation correctly.

You were a fashion journalist when you were a law student so had some contacts at harrods but now you are a qualified professional lawyer so would like to buy a Birkin as your everyday office bag. But as a present from your husband, you could order a croc birkin through his office contacts and are now waiting for it to arrive.

But somehow you can't find a way to get a birkin in London as SAs are not very friendly whenever you say "I would like to get a birkin".

I have been through this and I agree it is quite upsetting when SAs don't treat you nicely.

I have been to Paris too, hoping to score a birkin. But to be honest, I think staying in London and just frequent the shop / or just place a Podium order either in March/September are a better bet than going to Paris for just one day (or even a few days) and visiting all the shops in Paris a few times a day!!

I can see your desperation, but it does take time to get a Birkin even a normal leather one, so if I were you, I would wait till march and just call the shop everyday and when the list opens, go to the nearest shop (either Bond Street or Sloane Street) as soon as possible.

I don't think anyone can tell if Hermes selling policy has changed unless you are a store manager or something.

Wishing you the best of luck with your Birkin hunt!!! ;)

Thanks for the biography, but I hope you can understand how people would get suspicious when you post what appears to be contradictory statements in different threads. We're only privy to the exact words you write, not the rest of your circumstances, and usually assume that a person looking for a starter H bag isn't going to be in imminent possession of a croc Birkin (but good for you to be getting one!).

As for the Birkin, if you can acquire one through an approved Hermes outlet like Harrods, in a shorter time than normal, in exactly the combo you want...what are you waiting for?!! I'd jump on it in a heartbeat if that was available to me. Whatever premium they charge is bound to be less than the airfares to Paris or France, the other little things you buy while waiting a year for the bag to come, and those blasted yearly price increases.

Good luck again.
