I totally understand and I'd be a skeptic too. I'm not a longtime member of TPF and I'm an occasional reader. The information on TPF can be overwhelming although great. Any online forum is never good with categorisation or findability and catching up years of comments and backreadig is impossible.

I think I came across loukpeach posts and snide comments after it, some time ago and I was confused what was going on and NOW I KNOW WHY!! *Smh*

But back to the point, nothing is perfect and anywhere in the world, there will be malicious people who want to abuse others. We have to deal and the honest people in this community need to help one another without ostracizing newbies, but also helping dismantle scammers here!!

I personally am dying to build my H collection and I have a million questions as I'm rather new to the H-brand (all I have are scarves and plenty small goods and one bag that I have not used/don't plan to keep) But because the community is tight knit and overwhelming I was afraid to ask. I understand now why! But I still hope the community will continue to engage And be fun for everyone!!

OP, Any update? Also, are you able to answer the further questions asked here? If possible, help the community help you! Understand that skepticism goes both ways and while you are not obliged to reveal anything, posting here you kind of opened yourself to that. It's only fair IMHO.

Don't think that you should be afraid to ask any question here on tPF.
This forum is meant to share thoughts good, bad or indifferent & to learn. We all have various opinions some
at times can be harsher than others .Comments/opinions need to be put in perspective & not to take personally, IYKWIM
Enjoy the forum as there is much to learn & enjoy building your H collection .

OP,any updates with regard to the letter?

Hi hotshot

I took quellefromage’s advice and called the Hermès store earlier this week and asked to speak to the manager but apparently they are on leave so I asked to speak to assistant manager but after explaining on the phone to the person they basically said the issue is dealt by their after sales department. They were able to find the email trail and emailed the after sales department on my behalf requesting to get the letter urgently but I haven’t heard from them. I’m going to try and call the after sales department directly on Monday to see what’s going on as they said they would email when the letter was posted and I haven’t received word so the letter hasn’t even been posted yet.

The person on the phone was very nice and non-judgmental which was really nice. I took the opportunity to ask about waitlists and she did say the store operated with a waitlist for birkins but said the waitlist is currently closed and to check back every few months to see if it’s open. Only thing I didn’t clarify is if she meant I could just call or I had to go into the store to get on the waitlist.

Perhaps you can find out more information for your store in the location forums. I can’t remember but I think you are in Sydney. I was there 3 times last year and on my final visit was offered a quota bag (Birkin). I think many Hermes stores tell people that there is a waitlist, but from what I have gathered they don’t actually exist. Unless you show some loyalty to the store I imagine the waitlist never opens.

I live in Vancouver and literally had an SA tell me that I needed to buy jewelry so she could give me the bag I requested! It’s such a hassle and so competitive that I’m shopping in Bellevue too now and just dealing with paying customs, since there is no longer duty for French products. I got tired of buying home goods I didn’t really need to qualify for bags!

Side note - Have you successfully bought a B/K at Bellevue? Did you build your relationship to get one? I also live in Vancouver and I don't think my fledgling collection of Twillies from the Alberni store is ever going to add up to enough to be offered a bag there!

I have been very loyal to one SA but I have only bought a few items. He has been very understanding about me being remote. I was not only able to receive a Birkin, I was given a SO last October! I was really shocked I would be given one. I have spent over $40k a year in Vancouver and not offered one.

I was in the Vancouver store this week and one of the SA's said I had to spend equivalent to a B/K in order to be offered one. I'm surprised that you haven't been offered one yet!

I'd rather buy mine at Bellevue, Vegas, or Europe, since they have more selection and 12% taxes at the border is less than $2K.

I was wondering how much did you spend and how many months did you shop in Bellevue before getting offered a SO? I'd like a SO B/K as well.

Sorry to be clear I have purchased multiple quota bags in Vancouver, I have just never been offered a SO. It’s just annoying to be constantly expected to buy so much other stuff.

My SA in Bellevue has allowed me to buy only what I want over the years and been very reasonable. I spent maybe $15k last year there, but I have been shopping maybe 5 years there. I would expect to get offered a quota bag at my spending level but not an SO.

There are threads on topics you both discussing
Shall we stick to the original topic and not hijacked
Thanks

My husband, who never goes on tPF, just read most of this thread and is in stunned disbelief at the forum.
I am unclear here as to what the OP has done to warrant these attacks. There is nothing particularly fishy about the story as it originally was told...all the "fish" came from others' input.
Unreasonable things have been asked, like posting tracking numbers.
95 pages' worth of Barneys scam from 2011 (!) is not related.

We all know what it is like to wait for resolution from Hermès. Let's please not jump on OP; if/when there is actual reason to do so, even then it is more powerful to ignore/delete scammers than to attack.

Thanks quellefromage. I’m not sure what other questions hephephippo is referring to as I’ve answered pretty much most questions already.

Hi Quelle, duly understand and I share the same sentiment. I guess I was just trying to acknowledge and recognize the skeptical thinking in both directions so that long-timers can remember that not all noobs are dishonest and for noobs asking help to understand why long-timers have some hesitation and want additional information/clarification to help.

But yes to your point, asking for personal or private information is rather unnecessary (learned this myself on an innocent question). No one is under any obligation to respond and OP isn't obligated either.

But we all want to learn the innards of H's workings and all want the best outcome for honest people, including OP. (innocent until proven guilty) and because we are all stakeholders of the brand, we all have vested interest. We don't want fakes and we want scammers and fakers punished.

Anyway reallying hoping OP can provide more updates and that the outcome is in his favor. Also hoping this was an unfortunate incident on brandoff's part and that all re-sellers can keep evolving to identify fakes and weed them out. Most of all, I hope governments crack down on factories that produce fakes. It's intellectual property theft and stuff.

Update: Reebonz has provided a refund via PayPal. Paypal has closed the case but said it can take up to 30 days for the refund to be processed. Once the money actually hits my account I will post the whole story with evidence. Can a mod who is also familiar with Hermès PM me as I would like to run through what bits to post and what not to in order to avoid any dodgy people trying to use this information for their own nefarious purposes. Thanks. I’m feeling a bit better but won’t be completely settled till I see that refund in Black and white
